A couple of days were left before the new school year would start, which wasn’t saying much as the town only had one school, the grades going from Kindergarten to High School. But pushing the thought of the town’s worrisome lack of educational learning spots out of your head, you dug one more time through your new school bag, making sure you had anything and everything ready for when you’d start school in 3 days. You had gotten worried and ended up packing up everything early, (mainly as a result of your dad panicking and the anxiety transfering over to you as a result) you had checked in on Alex an hour or so back. You had asked him if she had everything packed and ready, to which he had waved you off nonchalantly, saying something along the lines of them being fine. Though as soon as you walked out of their room, you heard quickened shuffling from their room, indicating that Alex ended up scourging through their bag to check they did have everything as well. You chuckled at the recent memory, closing your bag with a satisfying click as you knew you had everything ready.

“Moonlight? Can you come downstairs real quick?”

You heard Marcus call you from somewhere downstairs, you walked out of your room and went down the stairs to the living room, about a couple steps down, you paused. You had a feeling you already knew what they were going to ask of you, so instead you went back into your room.

…To grab a small backpack of course.

It just had your wallet, a water bottle, and the keys to the house, which you had barely gotten yesterday seeing as you’ve only spent a couple of days in the new house you had moved into. Slinging the bag over your shoulder, you made it down the stairs, calling out to your second father to announce that you were coming down.

“Dad? What’s up?”

Marcus looked at you with a raised eyebrow, sighing as he placed his hand on your shoulder sighing.

“You already know?”

“Just a hunch.”

You smirked, your eyes tearing away from your dad’s to glance at Alex, who nervously stood behind Marcus. They muttered a small sorry, glancing away. You stretched your hands ever so slightly, rocking back and forth.

“Well, just hand me a list of what you need, and about 20 bucks, and I’ll get what you need.”

“What?! That’s exor-exicorst- *frick* extortion!”

“Hey! I have to be able to purchase what you need somehow!-”

“Now now, calm down, the both of you. Moonlight. I'll give you my card to buy the stuff for Alex ok?”

Sighing, you ended up nodding. Accepting the money your father had handed you. 40 dollars… not bad. You slipped the cash into your wallet, stuffing it back into your bag as you headed out the door.

“Just text me the list of what Alex needs! And be specific!”

You headed out the door, gently closing it after you exited so as to not get scolded by Marcus for being ‘set on ruining the house as soon as we move in’. Walking down the driveway, you take in the falling green leaves of the trees surrounding you, the color orange starting to settle in as Fall seemingly rolled around. You’d take a small glance around the entrance of the driveway, heading in the direction of the town that seemed the most populated, surely you’d have to find some sort of stationary store somewhere in the town, they have a school in this town, surely they don’t just force everyone to ship stationary from out of town?

As you made your way down the rather quaint streets, the peace was soon disrupted by loud honking, and a demanding feminine yet masculine voice yelling for order got louder and louder the further you walked down the sidewalk. As you got closer, you could finally make out an almost fishlike (?) woman in a police uniform, enthusiastically yelling at two different cars that while at first seemingly bumped into each other, were in reality just too close to each other.
