Frodo and the company, after getting Saruman out of the Shire, went to go visit all of their old friends and family they haven't seen in months because of their legendary quest. Sam went to see his Gaffer and Rose, the hobbit girl he though he was in love with. Frodo, who had no one he would like to see in the Shire and having nothing better to do went with Sam. He and his Gaffer exchanged some words for a while about their quest and then Sam went to go see Rose. Frodo's stomach sank when Sam got up. He didn't have much time to tell Sam what he needed to say, what he had needed to say since they were on Mount Doom. He was horribly in love with Sam and he wanted, no needed him to know that before he went and married Rose. Frodo grabbed Sam's wrist.
"Sam," he looked into his beautiful eyes, "When you're married and have children, remember me; tell of me in your bedtime stories to your little ones. Don't forget what we went through together." He started to tear up. It was then when poor Sam realized he was only portraying his love for Frodo onto the acceptable option; Rose. He didn't need Rose, he needed Frodo.
"Actually M-" he stopped himself breaking formality for the first time in forever, "Actually Frodo could I spend my life with you. But not as boss and employee but and husband and husband?" he tried his best to not blush but failed miserably. Sam's Gaffer stood looking at them in complete and utter shock. He had never expected Sam, his Sam, to have feelings for men. Frodo was also in a little bit of a shocked state because he had never expected this from Sam either, but he was overjoyed at the same time that his feelings were mutual.
"O- of course Sam, I didn't know how to tell you I felt this way or anything when we were on Mount Doom. That, you know, is when I really fell for you. When you carried me up that mountain holding my hands all the way helping me through everything. But all of that aside I would love to spend the rest of my life with you." Frodo said happily as his tears actually left his eyes this time and he embraced his lover in a hug. Then they both realized they didn't have to show their, definitely not platonic, love through platonic gestures. And they kissed, uncertainly for it was both of their first times. During this intimate exchanged between the two hobbits Sam's Gaffer took his look away from the likes of anger and shifted it to a look of happiness for them.
The happy couple planned for their wedding to take place after they had finished rebuilding the Shire. They felt like they had to finish their work before they could go on with their normal lives again. Which admittedly was not very 'normal' anymore. Many hobbits helped the company rebuild as well, most of them were the same that fought beside them against Saruman. They made hobbit holes sturdier and planted a oak tree in the center of their little town. They removed anything Saruman had built for it was not hobbit-like. It took them nearly a year to clean up the whole of the Shire. Once all was done Sam moved into Bag-End with Frodo and they began preparations for their wedding. They planned for it to be a month or so away still, as much as they wanted it to be that day they had lots of things to do to ensure the safety of everyone. What they were doing was very taboo and in some places illegal even. They had to make sure they only had supportive friends and family there.
They invited Gandolf, Aragorn and his family, Legolas, Gimli, Merry, Pippin, Bilbo, and Sam's Gaffer. They both were making sure they had very little to no connections to their old homophobic friends so they were oblivious. They had also planned to have it take place on Weather Top since no one went there anymore. Even with all of these precautions what they were doing was still very risky and dangerous. This wedding would make history though. It was the first queer wedding of hobbits, maybe of any species in Middle Earth.
When the day of the wedding came around everyone invited came, even Bilbo, and they were very happy for the hobbits. Gandolf was especially proud because, in his mind, he made the match by sending Sam to protect Frodo on the quest. Aragorn was happy that his 3 and technically 1/2 children were able to come and were quite well behaved. This was to be their last thing Sam and Frodo were to do in Middle Earth. After this they were going to sail off into the Grey Havens.
The morning of the wedding was the best morning anyone could have ever asked for. Sam and Frodo both wore grey suits with green flowers. They had their wedding rings made to look like the ring they both carried into Mordor. Most of the decorations were of the same color as their suits and flowers. Gandolf, of course, wore white. Pippin and Merry wore suits also coordinating to their elf cloaks like Frodo and Sam. Gimli and Legolas wore their cultures kind of formal attire. Aragorn and his family wore basic wedding clothing along with Bilbo. They were married by Sam's Gaffer, which made it that much more special for Sam; who, eventually started to tear up. This triggered a chain reaction which went from Sam to Frodo to Bilbo, and so on. By the end of the ceremony everyone was feeling one emotion or another.
Some people from the town near Weather Top had found the ceremony and were trying their hardest to cause a commotion, which was being ignored. All in all it was a very joyous day for everyone except the random people. The only other people causing distractions were Aragorns children. He had twin girls and one boy. The girls were only 1 and the boy was 0. They also had one on the way as well. Eventually the random people got bored and left them to their wedding which everyone was very happy for.

When Frodo and Sam were getting ready to leave for their honeymoon in Rivendel there was word that Saruman was trying to copy Saron's plans and continue them, starting with the Shire this time. This meant they had to evacuate the Shire.
"One more adventure eh, Frodo?" Sam asked, he had gotten used to not using Mr. before his husbands name by this time.
"Yep, I guess we are already packed." He joked trying to bring some joy to this dire situation.
Sam laughed vainly looking sad, "Hopefully we will still get to go on our vacation after all of this." Seeing Sam like this destroyed Frodo; he couldn't wait for that vacation day where he would see his Sam smile and laugh with happiness again.
They started the evacuation with the women and children. Most of the men were to stay behind and help fight if they were able. They didn't know what kind of an army Saruman had acquired. So they prepared for the worst and hoped for the best. Luckily every alive member of the old Fellowship was already in the Shire; although no one was prepared for a battle. They also had another problem, they didn't know exactly where Saruman was going to strike first. They only assumed he was going for the Shire first.
