Ch. 1 - Nuvema Town

Hilbert rushed downstairs after hearing the doorbell ring. Today was finally that day that he's been waiting for. Once down, he saw his mother closing the door, with her hands filled with a package.

"You're up early, aren't you?" Hilbert's Mom said with a snicker.

"Are you surprised?" Hilbert asked. "Of course I am! Professor Juniper is finally giving us our own Pokémon to go on a journey and help complete the Pokédex!"

Completing the Pokédex was the reason Professor Juniper allowed Hilbert, as well as his childhood friends, Cheren and Bianca, to go on a journey across Unova. Of course Hilbert was going to help with that as a thanks to the Professor, but he had other plans as well.

The day has finally come, he thought. My dream to become the Champion will finally begin!

"So, how long until Cheren and Bianca come?" Hilbert's Mom asked him.

"Shouldn't take too long, they're just as excited as I am to start our journeys," Hilbert responded.

"Perfect. How about putting on proper clothes and eating breakfast while you wait?"

Hilbert quickly complied, eagerly waiting for the arrival of his friends so that they can open their gift together.

"What's keeping Bianca?"

Cheren and Hilbert were waiting for a while. They knew Bianca had no sense of time, but this was worse than normal. Why was she taking so long, especially on an important day like this one?

"Am I a little late again? So-oooo-orry!!" Hilbert and Cheren turned to see Bianca, who was out of breathe at the entrance of the bedroom.

"Bianca..." Cheren groaned. "I know you're terrible with time, but seriously? We're finally going to have Pokémon of our own, and you're late again?"

"Not just late, super late!" Hilbert exaggerated.

"I know. Sorry Cheren. Sorry Hilbert," Bianca replied. "My dad was just giving me some problems."

Hilbert and Cheren weren't surprised. Bianca's father always gave her problems. He was always a bit too overprotective of her, which made sense given the way she acts. They knew he resented the idea of Bianca going on a journey, but it seems like that didn't stop Bianca from being here with them now.

"Anyways, where's Pokémon? I can't wait to meet them!" Bianca squealed like a little kid.

"They're right here in the box that Professor Juniper gave me," Hilbert responded.

"Well now that we're all here, who gets first pick?" Cheren questioned.

"Since it came to Hilbert's house, he should get first pick, right?"

"Naturally. Your call, Hilbert. Which one will it be?"

Hilbert grinned as he looked at the three Poké Balls that housed the three starter Pokémon. Immediately, he grabbed one and threw it up in the air, calling the Pokémon out of its ball.

"Tepig, I choose you!"

The fire pig came out of its ball and looked around, taking in its new surrounding.

"Hey there, little guy," Hilbert said. "I'm your new Trainer, Hilbert. It's great to meet you! I can't wait to be good friends!"

The Tepig squealed in joy as it climbed onto Hilbert's shoulder and sat there. The Pokémon seemed to take a quick liking into him, but it still needed to open up a bit more before he can fully trust him.
