Dan

I walked through the house hallway, allowing my bare feet to come in contact with the cold floor.

I had just taken a glass of water. I had enjoyed the silence of the kitchen a bit before leaving.

I eventually got to my room. Slowly, I walked over to my mirror stand. I looked at the many drawers that are around it.

I opened one of them and began to sort my way through the many cosmetics I had stocked in it. I passed by some creams that I had used from time to time when my face was not presentable.

I then came in contact with an hallowed part of the wood. Carefully, I slid my hand into the area and removed my personal gun.

I just stared at it. Taking in the look of the trigger. The lines and curves all over the body of it. Absorbing the design and layout. Wondering why I hadn't taken it out with me in the morning.

Maybe if I had put the gun to the idiotic Silas' face, he would have baked off.

I later dragged my gaze off it and kept it back and silently closed the drawer shut.

Calmly, I made my way over to my bed and sat on it.

My head was spinning but I still couldn't fall asleep. I felt tired. Not even sure of what I am tired of.

I placed my elbows on my knees and pushed my fingers into my hair. I tried to calm myself down, but no luck.

"What is wrong with me..."

The pain of my glass injury wasn't there anymore so why am I feeling so sick?

When things didn't look like it would get any better, I decided to think on what had happened this evening.

When I had met Silas, he seemed to have wanted to take me somewhere.

Somewhere dangerous for sure.

But to where?

He had mentioned some of my Father's accomplices. All those names that I had heard from my parents and read from their files.

But he said something, before he punched me in the gut.

"Those ties will soon catch you, Daniel..."

Maybe he was on to something.

I shivered at the thought.

All I just need to do is to keep away from my Father's work. Mind my business. And protect Anne.

I just need to lay off that stuff...

I groaned.

"Get a grip idiot."

"Dan!"

"Is that him?"

"Dan!"

For the love of...

Slowly, I forced myself to raise my head from my legs.

I didn't sleep well last night. Shocking.

I was seated on the bleachers on the field. It was break, and I figured coming out here would be nice for me to rest.

I was wrong.

I looked around to find the people disturbing my sleep. Finally, my gaze fell on them.

Oh.

When they noticed that I had seen them, the three annoying boys came over.

"Hey man" the one that yelled my name said with a playful grin.

"Dylan" I murmured.

"How could you be sleeping at this time." The person beside Dylan, Grayson, said.

"I'm tired" I said, stiffling a yawn.

"As always" Joey sighed before sitting beside me.

I looked all of them over and couldn't help but smile.

"Come on you guys can do better than that" I laughed.

They joined in on my laughter.

"I wanted to throw something at you" Grayson said, then rose his hands in mock surrender "But someone said I would give the rich kid a scar."

Beside me Joey started to fake cough
"Says the guy that gave me a concussion last term."

Grayson scoffed "Oh please, you were over reacting"

Joey rose an eyebrow.

I left their bickering and faced Dylan.

"What have you guys been up to."

Dylan frowned.
"You are saying that as if you didn't leave us alone for just a day."

"Yeah" I said sarcastically "Like how I went somewhere for just forty minutes and the school was threatening a lockdown."

"No that was actually funny." Greyson interrupted.

I guess he was listening.

"I say this again" Joey said, also cutting into our conversation "I clearly told them not to do it."

"Well" Dylan shouted, catching our attention. "While you were doing ur prank job. We went on just living life as calmly as we could- "

I knew where this was going.

"And then we found that your friend, Owen was it?"

I nodded my head and jestured for him to go on.

"He was trying to find our hideout."
Dylan then looked at me, with a glance that was asking me whether I knew what that meant.

Once I realized my temperature suddenly dropped.

"You didn't" I said, eyes wide.

"We had to Dan" Greyson said, "But we let him go eventually-"

"With no injuries if I might add" Joey chipped in, then placed his hand on his chest "Courtesy of me."

"Owen is just part of the curious type" I mumbled.

I mean that boy can't keep his hands to himself most of the time.

The last instance when someone had discovered our hideout, it wasn't funny. All of us, including me, gave them a few bruises and told them that it news sneaked out about it, they wouldn't be so lucky the next time they meet us.

But we don't do dangerous things there. It's just a part of the building below the stairs where we usually stay in when we were tired.

Expecially me.

I had found a way to sneak some things, courtesy of some ... um ... insiders that i had paid.

"Eh, tell him to keep off our stuff" Greyson growled, then he grabbed me into an head lock; almost choking me "And we heard about your stunt in English."

"Yeah" Joey smiled, while watching Greyson use his knuckles to rough my hair.

"Hey!" I yelled in protest.

"I just hope Dan here doesn't leave us becouse of some kids and their jokes."
Dylan whined dramatically.

"Whatever" I choked, and then forced my head out of Greyson's grip.

"Easy, animal" I hissed at him.

Before he could get me back, Joey called my attention to something he was starting at

"Hey Dan?" He questioned.
I hummed to let him know I was listening. "Why does your sister look like a ripe tomato?"

I looked over to where his eyes was staring.

Eventually I saw her..

Anne was gushing over a boy, not just any boy ... Allan.

"Your sister and that kid almost never get a grip" Dylan laughed.

"I heard they're dating already" Greyson added.

"Oh really?" I couldn't help but ask.

My sister was having a love moment and I didn't know?

"Why don't we give them a visit?"

"Thought you would never ask" Joey grinned.

We walked over to them as calmly as we could.

I was heading right behind Allan.
Anne eventually got eyecontact with me.

What are you doing? She asked

I didn't give her a good reply. I only smirked and looked at Allan.

She widened her eyes in shock, wanting to walk away with her friends that hadn't noticed me yet.

We caught up before she could get anywhere.

With horror, Anne watched me bend over to whisper into Allan's ear, making sure he felt my presence:

"Having fun kid?"
