SPIN THE FUCKING BOTTLE

chapter three

it had been thirty minutes or so since alice and victoria had approached the crowd of people by the pool. they had spoken about lots of things, but alice mostly just tried to ignore the burning stare chris had given her the entire time. chris reached for his beer and dragged a hand through his hair. some other guy came walking with an empty beer bottle and sat down beside chris, placing the bottle on the table.

"let's play spin the fucking bottle."

some of the guys groaned, but the rest of them hyped it up and called more people there to join them. when the first person spun the bottle, the couch had gotten far more crowded and there were around fifteen people there. a girl grabbed the bottle and spun it, waiting for it to land on someone with excitement. victoria and alice mostly just sat and chatted as the others yelled and kissed each other. when it was chris turn to spin the bottle, alice's eyes turned to look at him. his eyes met hers as he spun the bottle, not letting her eyes go.

it landed on one of the girls named hailey, who was very happy with it. the rest of the night, they were in a corner, kissing and making out. it started to annoy both victoria and alice after a while, so they decided to just head home.

"we're going home, it's getting late." alice said, getting up from the couch. victoria followed behind and waved goodbye. "thanks for tonight." victoria said and the boys barely cared. eli gave victoria a sweet smile before the two best friends walked out to alice's moped.

the next days was going on as normal. alice and victoria was hanging out, waiting for noah to get back from his recording, and just gossiping while studying. eventually, alice would have to contact chris and plan some tutor session. she really didn't want to have him not graduating on her conscience. it was sunday night, and alice was sitting alone in her bedroom, ready to go to sleep. it was school tomorrow, and she decided to find him after school.

when alice sat in her last class for the day, with victoria right behind her and her teacher at the front by the whiteboard. everyone was packing up their stuff to head home, and when victoria was done gathering everything into her arms, she stopped by alice's side. alice grabbed her books and put a strand of her hair behind her ear. "i gotta go find chris." she said, rolling her eyes. victoria raised her eyebrows and alice scoffed. "tutor lesson." alice said, making victoria nod in realization.

the two exited the classroom, deep in conversation, when alice came to a stop. "i gotta go to the field. they have practice in ten minutes." she said with a long sigh at the end. victoria laughed with a nod. "i'll text you later. good luck." victoria said, turning around and walking away. alice bit her underlip and sighed before turning around, walking the opposite direction from victoria.

alice arrived at the lacrosse field, seeing around ten boys walk around, talking. some of them were shooting shots at an open goal, while the others were standing around the field, talking. the girl scanned the field, and found number three. she took a deep breath before putting her hair behind her ears and walking towards him. he was shooting shots on a goal while talking to some teammates. this was the worst plan to ever exist. as she approached number three, some of the players stopped what they were doing to watch the girl hurry over to chris. she noticed how the movements around her stopped, one by one. eli – who was talking to chris, noticed the girl and nudged chris's shoulder.

chris turned his head to look at whatever eli had reacted on, and when he saw alice jacobs walking towards him, his eyebrows raised. he moved his lacrosse stick from both hands to his right one, holding his helmet in the left one. alice came to a halt in front of chris as the boy sighed loudly.

"study hall is that way, jacobs." chris said, gesturing towards the entrance of the school. alice turned her head in the direction he pointed, then turning it right back towards him with furrowed eyebrows. "we need to study." she said easily, making a few of his teammates laugh shortly in the background. chris bit his underlip, sighing. with a frustrated look, he glanced over at his teammates laughing before looking back at the girl. "and you couldn't wait an hour until i don't have practice?" chris said with irritation in his voice. alice rolled her eyes. "i have better things to do rather than sitting around in school all afternoon waiting for you. the world doesn't revolve around you, you know?" she said, crossing her arms over her chest.

chris bit his lip to prevent a small smile. his eyes landed on the ground quickly before meeting hers again. "okay. well i won't skip practice to study with you, jacobs. that should be pretty fucking obvious, yeah?" he said, raising his eyebrows and putting on his helmet with his left hand.

alice sighed. "now step aside before i pick you up and carry you to the side of the field, thanks" chris said, walking past alice to pick up a ball with his lacrosse stick. two of his other teammates did the same, talking to each other. alice bit her lip in anger before rolling her eyes and walking off towards the parking lot. chris's eyes followed her movement carefully until she disappeared around the corner. chris chuckled quietly before dapping up one of his friends, his eyes still stuck on the corner where alice disappeared.
