Kendall's POV:
Have you ever felt so lonely even though you were surrounded by people?
Well that's exactly how I feel right now, at the moment I'm at the Art gallery.
It's filled with so many students, parents, friends, teachers and other random people.I'm supposed to enjoy myself but I dont seem myself. Looking around I just realized how lonely I am. Brushing my depressing thoughts away I force a smile as I see people coming.
A boy from my school I think he's name is Drew Underwood, walks over towards my portrait along with a couple of elderly people.
"This is beautiful" A old lady says, I smile at her, I mean generally smile at her this nothing fake. "Thank you ma'am" I reply.
"She's right, it's very beautiful. Your names Kendall Cooper right?" Drew asks."Yes, and thank you." I respond politely, forcing a fake smile towards him not particularly interested in having small talk.
I mean, you can just compliment then go? Like the old lady. Small talk is unnecessary. He must have noticed how fake my smile was or how uninterested I was towards his question, because he chuckled. Amusement playing in his eyes.
"I'm guessing you don't want to talk to me then?" He asked, smiling.
"Yes I don't" I blurted out before realising what I said.
"I mean, it's not you or anything I'm just not in the mood." I added, smiling at him apologetically. He nodded his head in understanding.
"Where is your guardian?" He asked.
Wrong move.
"None of your god damn business" I snapped.
He looked taken back by my tone at first, then he looked guilty."I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked you that, I understand that was personal for you" Drew apologized, looking sincerely sorry.
"No I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you" I said softly, regreting my previous moves."Its fine, um I should go then and give you some space. I'll see you around" He said, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
"Sure" I said smiling, and he instantly smiled back and turned to leave. He seems nice? I think he is in my art class.
Actually he is, I just remembered.
He is really into art like me, I guess we have that in common.
I feel so bad for snapping at him though. My thoughts were cut of when a well groomed, wealthy man stood near my portrait admiring it.
He looks professional, I wonder what he is doing here?"Wow, this is incredibly magnificent, do you know who drew this?" He asked, in a British accent. I have always loved British accents.
First I thought he was dumb or something because it said my name clearly there.
Then I realized he doesn't know my name, he's a stranger. I took that as my que to speak up."That would be me Sir and thank you" I said, blushing a little bit.
"Your welcome and I know a good painting when I see one" He replied, matter factly. The way he said that was almost as if he judged paintings before or something.
Why did he sound so sure of himself? Could he in fact be someone important?
Well I can't let a once in a life time opportunity like this slip away from my grasp.I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask?
"May I ask how sir?" I asked, generally curious.
"Well partly because I have seen so many portraits and partly because I own a Art exhibit in London" He explains.I was certainly impressed, a art exhibit wow.
My dream was to have my paintings in a Art exhibit. I didn't think I would ever achieve it though, but now that a charming wealthy man that owns a Art exhibit just told me my portrait is beautiful, there is hope.I was certainly interested.
"Wow, and that explains the accent then" I said, chuckling.
"I suppose it does" He said, flashing me a charming smile then turning to leave.I mentally laugh. Did he think I was going to let my ticket to my dream go?
"Wait" I spoke, watching him freeze in his place. He turned around with a questioning look on his face.
"Yes?" He asked, politely."Why are you here?" I questioned.
Hoping he would be looking for a painting to add to his exhibit.
"Well I'm looking for a painting to buy and display in my exhibit" He explained.
Bingo."What about mine? Isn't it good enough?" I asked, biting my lips in anticipation.
"Yours is incredible and I would display it but the theme this month is happy and yours doesn't fit the description" He explained.I hung my head down in disappointment. Until a idea pops in my head, hang on a minute. I have a painting at home that fits perfectly with the description.
"I have a painting at home that fits the description perfectly" I inform him."Perfect" He says, while taking out a card and handing it over to me.
"Call me when you have the painting and we can discuss the rest over coffee" He speaks, firmly.I smile at him and nod, I can't beilve it. Im so happy it's undescribable. If he buys my painting I'm going to have so much money, which is going to be useful for me I could add it in my college funds.
"How about tomorrow? I don't have school tomorrow?" I suggest.
"Tomorrow sounds perfect" He confirms."Thanks a lot for doing this" I say, to let him know I appreciatie it.
"Your welcome" He says, with that he is of.
Shortly after Emily comes strolling to me.
"Who was that you were just talking to?" She asks."No one important, just a guy admiring my Art" I lie, I'm not going to tell her until he actually buys it and displays it, I don't want to get her hopes up.
"Doesn't everyone" She compliments.
I smile at her.
For the first time today, I'm actually happy.
