"God, I'm so sorry I got mad at you. I wasn't even mad at you. I was still upset from a fight I got in with my brother," Josh stated while pulling back from the hug. His eyes scanned his friend's weakened features and a frown tugged at his lips, "I'm a horrible friend."
As soon as Josh said that Tyler began shaking his head so rapidly it irritated the migraine he already had. "No way, you're the best friend anyone could wish for, if anything I'm the horrible friend."
Furrowing his eyebrows Josh inquired, "How could you even say something like that? You're the smolest bean."
Because I kissed your girlfriend. Twice. He glanced at Raidyn who was standing awkwardly, silently pleading he wouldn't say anything about what had transpired just before Josh entered the room. "Because I did this to myself without any sort of warning to you. I made you worried sick, I can tell by the way your eyes are sunken in. Did you even sleep?!"
Josh shook his head and sighed, "Not exactly. I refused to sleep until you woke up.."
"See?! This is what I mean. You were so worried about me that you committed an action detrimental to your own health."
Josh's bottom lip rolled inwards before he chewed on it. He nodded slowly before starting, "Bu--" Tyler cut him off instantly.
"No buts, Mr. Dun." Sitting up in the bed he messed up Josh's already messy hair causing them both to laugh. "Do you know when I can get out of here?"
"Uuuuh," Josh started, "I think they said they were just going to do observations when you wake up and then you can be checked out. They want to make sure that this won't damage anything along the way but they're pretty sure that you should be alright. Until then I have to head out. Call me when you get the final results? My mom has been worrying for whatever reason. Do you need anything before I go?"
Looking at the cup of water he'd been sipping from over the period of time he woke up, Tyler shook his head. "Nah, I'm good with the water."
Once he received a response Josh gave his friend a quick hug before whispering, "Stay alive," then he headed out. As soon as he left Tyler whipped around to face Raidyn.
"What was that?!" he hissed under his breath.
"I-I-I ju-just," she was tripping over her words repeatedly. "I just needed you to know that I feel the same way and I didn't think words were going to cut it."
Running his fingers through his short hair Tyler shook his head. "You can't just go around kissing me. What if Josh walked in and saw?" Scrunching up his nose, he huffed, "You might be fine with losing him but I'm not."
She was chewing on her lips, her heart hitching as she saw his heart monitor begin to act quicker with his anger. "I'm sorry, I don't want to lose him I just.." She sat down on the couch before stuffing her face into her palms.
"You just what?"
"I just don't know. I really like you but--"
"But what?! You need to just cut straight to the point!"
"I don't know! God, I don't know, Tyler!" by now tears had began to fall from her cheeks in soft weeps and instantly Tyler softened all the way from his expression to his tone.
Reaching his arms out, he sighed, "C'mere."
She looked up at him, sniffling softly before moving to the bed where he could wrap his arms around her. "I'm sorry, Tyler," she whimpered as he wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"I need you to decide what you're going to do, Raidyn. I know Josh will be hurt, but I've been hurting for months without any knowledge on what I did wrong because all of the sudden neither of you would talk to me, then I finally got Josh back," he hadn't realized that his heart rate was picking up as he ranted. "But I never had you." Releasing a shaky breath he shook his head, "I really just wanted you and I tried to tell you that with the kiss and I spent so long wondering what I did wrong to lose you."
Her eyes moved up to meet his and she shook her head, her hand caressing his stubble covered cheek. "You never did anything wrong, it was me. I didn't know what to choose, and I thought my decision to go with Josh would help keep him from being mad at you."
"I had to get him a cat before he forgave me," Tyler said and they both laughed softly.
"I really want to be with you, Tyler," Raidyn said, toning down the little bit of laughter that had managed to lighten the room.
Chewing on the inside of his cheek he whispered, "Raid, you need to tell Josh that. I really want to be with you too but we can't have you going behind his back. Explain to him how you feel, he'll forgive you."
Wrapping her arms around the male who still hadn't released her, Raidyn whispered, "Thank you, Ty." Bringing her gaze to meet his she said, "I needed someone like you in my life."
Untangling their grip on each other after a period of silence she rose to her feet, "I gotta go tell, Josh. If he gets mad at you call me and I'll pick you up from the hospital."
"Alright, stay safe," Tyler said his eyes following her until she left the room. God, she made his heart churn with all sorts of mixed emotions.
