Why was it so hard?

Adrian looked out of the lighthouse as rain poured down.

The scene matched her insides.

Everything was in an uproar.

And yet, by the grace of God, she hadn't burst.

Yet.

She wasn't twenty anymore. She wasn't bright-eyed. She wasn't trusting.

She was different.

She was so different that she wasn't even sure she knew herself.

Honestly, seeing Diego again made her feel insane.

Outwardly, he was everything new and good—the man she desired.

But inwardly, she wasn't so sure.

He could switch things up. He could leave her hanging. He could break her heart and blame it on mental torment.

He could blame it on mental torment.

But what could she blame this on?

She felt like a skeptic. She was a skeptic.

But why?

"Lord, You're good at answering questions," She started, unsure and slightly annoyed. "Why? Why is this so hard? I-i just want to shove my head in the ground and," She closed her eyes and sighed, clenching her fists anxiously.

"What's wrong with me?" She cried brokenly.

Everything was clear.

Diego was a new man. Diego loved her. Diego was a good man and friend. Diego wanted to be with her. Her!

He was willing to accept her as she was.

Why couldn't she just believe him?

Why did it all feel like a lie? A fantasy land waiting to crumble?

You can't believe it because it was all there before and he hurt you. You are not a problem. But if you want this, you have to choose to believe what he says and who you've seen him to be.

Adrian shook her head. "No,"

No.

But it was true.

The truth felt like peace guarding her heart and mind.

She was not the problem.

Diego was.

Diego was the problem. But he is no longer the problem. Fear is. Will you allow fear to keep you from what I have for you?

Again, she could only say, "No,"

She thanked the Lord for the lighthouse being empty, or else someone would assume she was unstable.

But maybe she was.

There was a crossroad.

A choice she had to make.

Everything was clear.

There was still doubt.

Diego loved her.

She loved Diego.

But was that enough?

Diego's teeth were sunken into his lip as he focused.

He had to get it right.
