"Are you not feeling well?"

"Huh?"

Jevin looked at his mother from head to toe as she sat down on the intricate garden chair across from him. Curiosity swirled in her eyes, tilting her head to the side as she waited for his explanation.

"Your clothes," he pointed out. "It's not that cold."

"Oh..." Jennie chuckled awkwardly. "So, that's what you meant."

To cover all the marks Lisa left on her skin, Jennie had to wear something conservative. Hence, she went to wear a cozy turtleneck and long pants.

"Now that I think about it." Jennie touched her forehead before flashing him a smile. "I'm okay."

"Then why are you all covered up??"

"Oh, that? I just got the first clothes I could get because I was in a rush." Jennie propped her arms against the edge of the table, smiling from ear to ear.

Jevin cocked his head to the side. "Why are you in a rush?"

"Well." Jennie smacked her lips. "I promised my son to make him breakfast, but I overslept. Sorry."

"You don't have to say sorry. It's not your fault." Jevin lowered his eyes, setting them on the book before him.

"Huh?"

Jevin didn't answer anymore, refocusing his attention on the book he was initially reading. Meanwhile, Jennie was thrown into a lake of question marks, appalled by the meaning behind his remarks.

'Did he know?' she wondered, mentally gasping in horror. 'Considering he is a genius, he probably — ugh...! Oh, god. Just how many more traumas am I going to give this child?'

"Father told me the reason, so don't worry."

!!!

Jennie slammed her hands on the table, jumping from her seat. "He did what?!"

"Why are you so surprised?"

"Jevy, what did your dad tell you about last night?" Jennie gasped, ready to teach Lisa a lesson if she ever hear Jevin say anything about sex. Their son was four! It was not time for sex education yet!

"He told me about your plans regarding the renovation of my room and spent the entire night looking for designs." Jevin blinked. "He bragged about helping you. Did you not want him to tell me just yet?"

"Uh?" Her brain went blank for a second before a nervous laugh escaped her mouth. "Ah, that? It was supposed to be a surprise."

Jennie carefully wobbled back to her seat, feeling her knee tremble. "But yes, I told him about the renovation in case he'd be surprised when his credit bill comes."

"His accountant handles that. He wouldn't mind spending such small numbers, nor would he care." Jevin didn't dwell on his mother's strange reaction, as if it wasn't worthy of his energy.

'Gosh. I just felt like I had a mini heart attack.' Jennie discreetly patted her chest to calm herself down. 'But did I mention my plans to him?'

Jennie looked up as she thought about it. Her mind drifted to the occurrence last night. To be brutally honest, Jennie couldn't remember every single thing they said to each other the night before. She was already groggy halfway, after all.

'Ah...'

While Jennie and Lisa took a break from their fourth round of passion, she suddenly brought up her plans regarding Jevin's room. She simply uttered it in passing before the two of them engaged in a passionate kiss, groping each other's body, and feeling each other's heat.

As she answered her own questions, Jennie snapped her eyes back to the child across from her. The moment she finished her morning routine like usual, she went out looking for Jevin. Dara told her the young master was reading his book in the garden, so she followed him.

There were already snacks and refreshments prepared for Jevin. What a life. Others would probably find it boring to be spending a lazy afternoon in the garden while reading a book. But in her eyes, it just seemed very peaceful.

'He's like an ancient crown prince.' Jennie cupped her cheek, eyes fixed on her son. 'I understand if he was an adult enjoying this sort of stuff. However, Jevy is just four.'

"Jevy," she called after a moment of pondering, waiting for him to respond. "Can I talk to you for a second?"

Jevin lifted his gaze to her. "About?"

"Would you be angry if I disturbed you while you're reading?"

"If you are someone else, yes." He didn't even lie. "I don't like people talking to me when I'm trying to read."

"Oh..."

"But you're my mo—" Jevin nearly bit his tongue while her brows rose. "You are not someone else."

Jennie ran her tongue across her inner cheek, telling herself to pretend she didn't notice. Even when she told him he could call her mommy, it seemed he was having a hard time doing so. She understood why, though.

This child grew up without being able to call her mom or mommy — not even calling her Mother. It would take him some time to get used to it. Maybe if she showed him more affection, he would open up. Hopefully.

"If you say it like that, then I'd be shameless to bother you." Jennie smiled, deciding to let it go. "Should we go out?"

"Huh?"

"I was thinking you are still technically on a vacation break. You were supposed to come home in a few days, but you went home earlier than you should have. It would be a shame to stay indoors," she explained casually. "So, I thought we should have a date."

A date?

Jevin stared at his mother with genuine wonder in his eyes. "A date? You and me?"

"Yep! Just you and me. Just Mom and Baby." Jennie nodded excitedly. "What do you think?"

There was a moment of silence between them, pressing his tiny lips into a thin line.

"Fine," he answered quietly, lowering his head but unable to hide the reddening tip of his ear.

'Aww. My baby is so cute!' Her smile turned warmer, seeing that he liked the idea more than she thought he would.

And with that being said, Jennie and Jevin prepared for their first date. Or what she called her first step to lessen the gap between her and her son. Also, her first step to embracing this role she had always wanted in her original life, being a mother.
