The Question of the Past

The sun was beginning to rise on the horizon, casting a soft light over the peaceful village of Souz. The aroma of breakfast still hung in the air when Ethan and his grandfather, Harlan, finished their meal. Ethan, restless, couldn't shake the disturbing images of the nightmare of the night before. His thoughts were turned to the unknown past and the amulet that hung constantly around his neck.

After the meal, Ethan decided to approach his grandfather, who was busy organizing some scrolls in the house's small library. Old Harlan was deep in thought as he examined the documents, but Ethan knew it was the right time to ask the question that weighed on his heart.

"Grandfather, can I ask you something?" Ethan began, his voice heavy with hesitation.Harlan looked up, his deep, wise eyes fixed on his grandson. He smiled gently and nodded, encouraging Ethan to continue.

"Sure, Ethan. What do you want to know?

"I... I've been dreaming of strange things. And sometimes I feel like there's something I don't know about my past.

 Ethan hesitated, watching Harlan's expression.

"What can you tell me about my family and where I came from?"

Harlan sighed and stood up, walking to the window.

He looked out, contemplating the tranquil beauty of the village, before turning to Ethan with an expression of regret.

Ethan, I understand that you have questions and curiosities about your past.

The truth is that there are many things that are still unclear, even to me.

Harlan began, his voice deep and calm.

"What I can tell you is that when the right time comes, you will know the truth. There are things we can't control, and fate has its own plans for each of us.

Ethan frowned, a little disappointed by the vague answer, but he trusted his grandfather and knew he did his best to protect him.

"So, what should I do now?" Ethan asked, trying to hide his frustration.

Harlan smiled, a glint of pride in his eyes.

"Today is an important day for you. Harlan said, changing the subject.

"It's the day of your rank test in the Village Guild. It is a rite of passage for all young people on the continent.

It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills and start walking your own path.

The Guild TestAfter the conversation, Ethan followed Harlan to the heart of the village of Souz, where the Village Guild was located. The Guild was a vibrant hub of activity, where young men and masters gathered to train and evaluate the skills of new initiates.

The Guild building was a sturdy building, built with local timbers and surrounded by symbols of exploration and the journeys of the warriors of the village of Souz.

As they approached, Ethan saw several other young men, some nervous, some confident, waiting to take the test.

Harlan accompanied Ethan to the entrance of the Guild and introduced him to Master Alaric, the person in charge of the test that day.

Alaric was an imposing man, tall in stature and sharp eyes, who seemed to evaluate each young man with a watchful and critical eye

Alaric was an imposing man, tall in stature and sharp eyes, who seemed to evaluate each young man with a watchful and critical eye.

"Master Alaric, this is my grandson, Ethan. He's here for his rank test. Harlan announced with a tone of respect.

Master Alaric nodded and addressed Ethan.

Welcome, Ethan. Today you'll go through a series of tests that will test your skills in combat, strategy, and mana control. Remember that this test is not only about your technical skills but also about your character and determination.

Ethan nodded, feeling a mixture of nervousness and excitement. He knew that this was a crucial moment for his future and was determined to do his best.

"Ethan, this is your test. First, you must concentrate your mana in the sphere and it will transmit your level of aura given by the gods soon after you must summon your element, , and demonstrate your control over it. Master Alaric said in a firm, serious tone. "Next, you'll use your skills to face and defend yourself against a magical bull that will test both your attack and defense skills."

Ethan felt a chill down his spine, but also a wave of determination. He knew he had to face this challenge with courage. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart, and focused on his element: the Mist.

Elemental Power Invocation.

Ethan raised his hands, closed his eyes, and concentrated.

A dense mist began to form around him, enveloping him in an ethereal cloak. The thick fog seemed to come to life, rippling and flowing in response to his thoughts. Slowly, the mist began to expand throughout the arena, forming a mist so hazy that it looked as if the arena had been swallowed.

With an additional effort, Ethan was able to mold the fog into more defined shapes. And the mist condensed into a clear and fluid aura, demonstrating his control over the element. He made a movement with his hands and the mist took the form of a protective shield around him.Attack and Defense Against the BullNow that he had demonstrated his ability to summon and control his element, the next step of the test began. The magical bull, with its imposing armor, was released into the arena. The bull, with glowing eyes and a resounding roar, seemed impatient and ready for combat.

Master Alaric gave the signal to begin, and the bull charged toward Ethan with astonishing speed. Ethan, his heart pounding, used the mist to create a defensive barrier. He made quick gestures with his hands, and the mist formed into a sturdy shield that blocked the bull's charge.

But the bull did not stop. He spun around and attacked again, with gleaming horns and impressive brute force. Ethan knew he needed to be agile. He used his Grandfather of Shadows' technique to dodge it, momentarily disappearing from the bull's view and reappearing at a more advantageous point.
