BETWEEN TWO HEARTS (LINGORM)

Chapter 2

It's late at night. Both Reese and Lyn are lying in their beds after a long day. Reese is staring at the ceiling, still thinking about her unexpected meeting with Lyn at the café. She feels her phone vibrate and sees Lyn's name flash on the screen. A small smile creeps onto her face as she picks up the call.

"Hello Lyn?"

"Hi, Reese. I hope I didn't wake you."

Reese smiling "Hindi naman. Medyo nagpapa antok din. Ikaw, napatawag ka?"

"I just wanted to check in on you. Alam mo na, make sure you're okay after today. And... well, I was hoping we could chat a bit more. Parang bitin 'yung usapan natin kanina."

Reese laughs softly "Bitin? Yeah super. Pero we talked for over an hours din ha"

"Yeah, pero di ba sabi nila, time flies when you're having fun? (Playfully) And besides, I don't mind spending more time getting to know you. So, kamusta ka?"

"Hmm... okay naman. Honestly, mas magaan 'yung pakiramdam ko after our talk. I wasn't expecting to meet someone like you today. Thank you talaga, Lyn."

"I'm glad I could help. Alam mo, Reese, you have this way of making people feel comfortable. Kahit na ngayon lang tayo nagkakilala, parang ang gaan ng loob ko sa'yo."

Reese blushes, but smiles "Ang sweet naman nun. di ako alam paano sagutin yun ha!"

Lyn laughs "Huwag na. Baka lang makornihan ka lang sa mga banat ko.

" Corny? Ikaw? Hindi naman masyado"

"Ouch, ang sakit naman nun! Seriously, though, I like talking to you. I feel like there's more to you na gusto kong malaman."

"Oh? Ano naman 'yung mga gusto mong malaman?"

"Hmm, let's see... if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? And bakit?"

"Wow, biglaan naman 'yang tanong mo. Sige, siguro somewhere quiet but still connected to nature. Parang lugar na maraming puno, fresh air, pero may Wi-Fi pa rin."

Lyn laughs "Practical ka din pala. Nature, pero with Wi-Fi? Perfect combination! Ako naman, somewhere near the sea. Yung may relaxing sound ng waves, tapos madali lang mag-coffee by the shore."

"Wow, romantic ka din pala, Lyn. Nakakagulat"

"Aba, romantic talaga ako! Gusto mo ng proof? (Pauses for a moment) How about this - what's your favorite flower?"

"Hmm, roses, I guess. Why?"

"Noted. Para alam ko na kung anong dadalhin ko sa'yo next time we meet."

Reese laughs "Ay naku, grabe ka talaga. Baka masanay ako sa mga pa-sweet mo."

"Eh 'di masanay ka na. Walang masama sa konting sweetness, lalo na kung para sa taong special."

There's a comfortable silence as Reese feels a flutter in her chest. She finds herself smiling at Lyn's words, wondering how someone she just met could make her feel this way.

"Alam mo, Lyn, hindi ko inexpect na ganito kakomportable kausap."

"Ganun din ako sa'yo, Reese. You're different. Parang, there's this quiet strength in you na gusto kong mas makilala pa."

"You're making me smile, Lyn."

"Good. I like it when you smile. Parang kanina, sa café... you looked really pretty."

Reese giggles "Sus, ikaw talaga. Pero thank you."

Lyn pauses "I know it's getting late, pero okay lang ba if we talk a bit more?"
