Azure wasn't the most well known, she wasn't the strongest nor the smartest during her academy lessons. So why on earth had she volunteered for the hunger games, she wasn't ready yet. But she knew why.

Her family's been volunteering for the games since she was born, it was family tradition to volunteer for the games as soon as you turn 15, even if the odds were most definitely not in your favor.

Oh Azure was going to strangle whoever came up with that idea to death if she didn't die in the blasted arena first.

"Azure? Hello, Earth to Azure?" A man waved a clipboard in front of her face. Everything seemed to be going by in a blur, her heart racing at what had to have been more than 100 miles an hour.

Deep breaths.

She calmed herself down, she refused to be the first district one tribute to break down, it had been years since that happened.

"Ah, sorry I seem to have zoned out there." Azure muttered, the Capitol escort frowned. "Well better be on your merry way, the others are waiting for you."

Oh. Azure nodded her thanks and followed him into another carriage where there were four people all waiting for her presumably. Azure knew their faces, two mentors. Cashmere and Gloss, the sibling victors, who did not know them?

She took a seat next to her escort, a big mistake. "Ah, Miss Achilles, so kind of you to finally join us." The man commented.

Azure and Icarus, the other tribute rolled their eyes simultaneously.

"Lay off her Lysander, she didn't want to be here for god's sake." Icarus sneered, defending his friend.

So the escort's name was Lysander, right. Azure remembered him telling her she had been picked for the games around an hour ago.

Lysander narrowed his eyes on her. "Actually she did, she volunteered." He stated smugly.

Azure rolled her eyes. Again, at his ignorance. She wanted to punch his stupidly powdered face.

"We'll have to work on this one's punctuality." Lysander commented to the two mentors who were in conversation with themselves.

Cashmere frowned looking over Azure and Icarus. Azure wished she'd known what the older girl was thinking, at some point she could have sworn she saw a flash of pity in her eyes.

"Listen to the boy Lys, give her some time she'll warm up to you." Cashmere snorted.

Azure scoffed, maybe a little too loud because everyone looked at her.

"Will you stop talking about me as if I'm not here?" She snapped, she wasn't normally like this although volunteering, unwillingly, for some stupid games could do that to someone.

"Attitude." Lysander reminded her sharply

"Fine. I'm going to my room." Azure mumbled, she got up. Purposefully scraping her chair on the floor as she pushed it back in.

She stormed through the hallways, riled up by the interaction.

Eventually after minutes of mindless wandering she stumbled into her room, she basically collapsed into the quilt bed, exhausted from who knows what.

It was a comforting feeling and she fell asleep fast, the quilt hugging her figure.

Except, the quilt dont feel soft and comforting; it felt like it was trapping her, suffocating her. She thrashed around in her rest, gasping for air.

The pressure to win was threatening, if she died who would look after her siblings? Sweat beaded on her forehead from heat or something else who knows.

Azure ripped the quilt off her, and frantically gasped for air, her fingers clinging to the bed like it was her lifeline. "Curse the Achilles tradition." She whispered to herself.

"You alright there?" A voice snapped her out of the trance, Azure looked to the doorway to see Cashmere standing there, the rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains illuminated her blonde hair.

Suddenly Azure felt embarrassed, dusting herself down and fixing her quilt which had been crumpled by her sudden urge to rip it off. "Oh yeah, I'm fine, no, yeah." She fumbled over her words suddenly unsure of herself.

Cashmere laughed lightly. "You don't mind if I come in." She asked, Azure shook her head and moved over to give the victor some space next to her.

"You know, you're different from most of the tributes me and Gloss see." She remarked, Azure furrowed her eyebrows at this, did her mentors expect her to be like her blood thirsty, eager classmates. "You don't seem all that excited to be here, especially for someone who volunteered."

Azure sighed, she wasn't exactly in the mood to pour her heart out to the victor. She mumbled something along the lines of how she didn't really want to volunteer and how she needed to provide for her siblings and then went quiet.

Cashmere stood up, gently patting her back. "If you don't want to talk about it it's fine, if you do, you know where to find me." Where her parting words as the blonde left the compartment as swiftly as she had appeared.

It was at that moment that Azure Achilles decided she was quite fond of Cashmere Nicholo.
