Gemini was very close to his brothers, almost inseparable. Yet that is expected when they've been together for centuries. They haven't always been together, infact Gemini didn't know about the existence of his brothers until he was around 18 years old. It turned out that the people he had believed to be his parents were actually just people his birth mother had manipulated into raising him. So that does a lot to a person knowing that the people who loved you might not actually have loved you to begin with.
The worst part was that he ended up being the one to kill the people who had taken care of him since infancy. It wasn't his intention, and he wasn't in the best state of mind at the time. The same way he wasn't in the right state of mind when he killed his biological father or stepmother. His father wasn't a good person to begin with. His stepmother was a good person. Gemini believed she was just dealt with an unfortunate fate.
It is said that Gemini's existence was a cursed one, a being that should've never roam the face of the earth. He had been told that he was the reincarnation of the devil himself and all other kinds of bullshit but his brothers had always reassured him he was much more than his nature. Especially Phuwin, even though they fought a lot. Dunk, on the other hand, was always kind to him, but sometimes Gemini felt like Dunk never truly forgave him for killing his mother. Gemini knows that Dunk loves him though, well loves him as much as their kind can.
There was a time when his kind roamed the earth freely, setting terror to the hearts of humanity. It got so bad that they were hunted down and killed mercilessly. It was probably why his birth mother had taken him to be raised by humans, probably trying to spare him off this fate. Gemini doesn't know what really happened to his mother, but he only knew that his father had been the reason for his mother's demise. He has never met his mother since after his birth, apparently. Yet he sometimes sees her face, and he thinks he can hear her voice, too.
The story of their cursed existence was that his father had made a deal with a demon for some other reason. It was the 1400s, so probably there was some sort of war going on. His father was a war general, apparently. He doesn't know the details of this deal as it was never disclosed to any of them, but whatever deal his father had made had turned him into a blood thirsty demon.
Gemini doesn't know the intricate details of how exactly his father had turned his brothers or stepmother, perhaps the same way his brothers turned their loved ones but for what he had been told his brothers and stepmother had been human. He, on the other hand, was a special case. He was born a demon and not turned into one. His father called him a miracle child, and others thought he was a prophesy. The one to bring doom and destruction to humanity, whereas others said he was the one to restore the balance between darkness and light.
Gemini doesn't know that others that existed like them were turned by his father, brothers, or even stepmother or if there were others who had made the same deal with the demon. He remembers growing up, and the woman he had thought to be his mother had warned him about creatures that roamed the night. Like all children, the concept of ghosts and demon eating children were spread around. When he was in his early teens, he took that as stories parents told their children to get them to behave. He soon found out that he was wrong.
He remembers the feeling of being followed, of being watched. He remembers the nightmares of people bleeding to death and their blood curling screams. The nightmares were so vivid that they felt more like visions than dreams, and later on, he realised that, in fact, they were. He had told the people he thought were his parents and because the man he had thought to be his father was an Italian catholic they took him to the church were the priest had convinced them that Gemini was in fact possessed by a demon.
An exorcism was performed on him. They starved him, whipped him, and chained him down. The woman who he thought was his mother was horrified but did nothing to help him or free him. The priest had informed the people he thought were his parents that he had a legion of demons, and the only way to save him was to save his soul. The only way to do this was to perform a ritual, which would result in him being stabbed into the heart by a "holy" sword that was blessed by the highest priest.
Gemini had really thought that his then parents would resist. He thought they would find a way to save him and set him free. He thought they would tell the priest that he was out of his mind, but they had agreed.
"We love you. We are doing this to save your soul. Your soul is much more important than the earthly body you possess. This is just flesh. Let the demons have it. We are doing this for your own good." The man he had thought was his father had told him as Gemini begged and apologized for things he hadn't even done yet. The woman he called mother sobbed looking at him but did nothing to help him, and maybe now when Gemini thought about it, perhaps there wasn't much she could've done to save him.
He remembers struggling tied down in heavy lead chains, bright candles surrounding him in a specific ritualistic pattern. He remembers being burned by an iron brand on his chest, the pain he felt, and he truly believed that that day was his last day on earth. He can still remember the faces of the 8 priests who were present that day, including the head priest. He remembers their white robes that had red patterns embedded on them. He remembers the cross and the Latin chants they spewed that day.
It was Dunk and Phuwin that saved him. He remembers Dunk decapitating one of the priests like it was nothing. He remembers Phuwin breaking the heavy chains that were around his limbs. He remembers that it was Phuwin's blood that he drank that awakened the demon that laid dormant within him. He remembers draining the blood of the head priest.
"You will all be burned in hell!" One of the priests yelled.
"We will meet you there, Daniel." Dunk had replied before killing the man.
Gemini remembers being the one to drain the people he had thought to be his mother and father of father until they were pale and shrivelled up. He doesn't remember much after that except that his senses were heightened to a point that he could hear a spider threading its web. His heart was beating at a rate that should not be considered humanly possible. Then again, he wasn't human after all.
The next time he got his consciousness back, he was in a room with low dimmed candles. That's where he found out the truth about his true identity, and the people who saved him were actually his brothers. They had done so against their father's wishes. His father was the leader of their "coven" and the strongest of their beings. Gemini was in actuality 50 years younger than Phuwin and 52 years younger than Dunk. Meaning that Dunk and Phuwin were respectively 68 and 70 when he met them even though they looked no younger than 20.
His father had a harem of women he had tried to sire an heir with but unfortunately none of the women could carry the child to term and would die even though they had been turned to one of them. So that's why many thought of his existence as a miracle or a curse it all dependent on which perspective one looked at it.
Gemini lived off Phuwin's blood for a while since he refused to kill after what he had done. He refused to kill another human being. Phuwin would coax him into drinking his blood for the sake of survival.
"If he will not embrace who and what he is, let him die." His father had said, but Phuwin went against their father's wishes once again.
"I do not kill because I want to. It's not as bad as you think. I only need to feed once or twice a month. In some instances, I can go months without feeding." Phuwin had said to him once.
"I did not choose this existence. It was a gift father bestowed upon me." Phuwin said said to him, saying the word gift like it was a curse. "You are blood of my blood, flesh of my flesh. I will not force you to kill, but I will not watch you die either. Please. I beg of you drink from so you would live." Phuwin had pleaded with him.
One day, he overheard an argument between Phuwin and Dunk. They spoke in whispers, but Gemini's senses had been so enhanced that he could probably hear someone across town if he concentrated hard enough.
