Tiana

My mouth curved up into a smirk as I watched Domonic and Dominique trash talk each other as they played a game of Uno. They were the only two remaining in the game that had started with five people. Domonic was down to three cards and Domonique had five.

I crossed my leg over the other, taking a sip of the punch someone had made. Whoever made it had done a good job, it tasted like pineapples and a little soda mixed together with other things I couldn't quite put a name on.

"UNO!" Domonic screamed, slapping his card down.

Dominique rolled her eyes, placing a wild card down. "The color is red."

"UNO out." Domonic smirked, placing down a red card.

"Fuck!" Domonique shouted, stomping her feet.

"Don't be a sore loser." Domonic laughed.

"Shutup, you got lucky."

"Want to run it back?" Domonic questioned with a smirk.

"No." Domonique got up, going to take a seat next to her boyfriend. Domonic laughed, making his way over to sit beside me.

Domonic placed his arm around my neck, spreading his legs slightly. "You good over here?" He questioned.

"Yeah, I'm good." I tucked my silk pressed hair behind my ear.

Domonic reached out, smoothing my hair down. "I like when your hair is straightened. It's my favorite style on you."

"Thank you." I blushed, taking another sip of my punch.

"Have you tasted the punch? It's really good."

"Nah." Domonic took my cup, taking gulps from it. When he finished, the cup was empty.

"You were supposed to taste the punch not drink all of it."

"My bad." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes. "I'll go get you some more." He stood up, heading over to the punch. While he was gone, Domonique slid beside me.

"Hey girl." She smiled.

"Hey." I returned her smile.

"Are you enjoying yourself?"

"Yeah, I've been having a good time. You and Shayla did a really good job planning this."

"Thank you." She smiled. "I love planning things, especially holiday gatherings and birthdays."

"I can tell. Do you plan things for other people?"

"No, just family and friends. But everyone says I should start a business doing that."

"You should, like everything is really nice in here."

"Yeah, but I don't think I have the time to really commit to planning other people's parties. My main focus right now is growing my photography business."

"You take pictures?" I questioned.

"Yes, let me show you some of my work." She pulled out her phone and began scrolling through her phone.

"Wow, these are nice." I admired as she showed me the photos she'd taken.

"Thank you." She smiled.

"Here's your drink, I'm about to go talk to the guys." Domonic passed me my drink.

"Alright, thank you." I grabbed the cup from him.

Domonique looked from her brother to me. "So what are y'all?" She questioned curiously.

"I guess we're dating." I shrugged "I don't know." I sighed. It still seems as if Domonic and I are just friends aside from the kisses and occasional flirting.

"Alright then."she responded awkwardly. "So are you coming to Thanksgiving dinner? Domonic always celebrates with my dad's side."

"I haven't decided yet." I lied, Domonic and I actually hadn't discussed anything about Thanksgiving.

"Well, I hope you decide to come, it'll be fun." She gave me a genuine smile.

A few hours later, Domonic and I had left the shop and were now headed to my house. I played with my fingers nervously as I prepared to have a serious conversation with him.

"Domonic what are we? Like seriously, are we dating? Are we just friends or what?"

"I told you we were just going with the flow."

"It doesn't seem like we're going anywhere. The only thing we're doing is kissing and flirting from time to time. We haven't went out on a date or anything."

"I thought we were just seeing where things went Tiana, you never told me your expectations of me."

"I didn't have any but people are constantly asking me what we are and I think I sound stupid saying we're just going taking things slow or we're going with the flow."

"Well Tiana I didn't know you felt like that, if you want to go on dates I'll take you. I just thought us not putting labels on anything would be best. Maybe that wasn't the case."

There were a few minutes of silence between us before Domonic spoke again.

"Tiana, will you go out on a date with me this weekend?" He questioned; I couldn't hide the blush that crept on to my cheeks.

"Yes." I smiled.

When we arrived at my house, Domonic walked me to my door. I unlocked the door, turning my head in his direction. "You can come in if you want." I offered.

Domonic followed me inside, taking a seat on the couch. I removed my shoes and jacket before taking a seat next to him.

"Your mama here?" He questioned.

"Nah, she went out with some friends."

"Oh okay, did you enjoy yourself at the shop today?"

"Yeah, it was fun, and the food was good."

"It was good as hell." Domonic agreed, chuckling. Shayla had found someone that did catering and had the food catered so no one would have to worry about bringing food. "Are you doing anything for Thanksgiving?" He questioned.
