Without a doubt, the day had taken an incredibly odd turn. Sabrina walked onto the balcony overhead the living room with five of her siblings, leaning closer to the railing to get a better look at the intruders. There was eight of them - seven that appeared to be the same age as her siblings, and one strangely dressed like a schoolboy, appearing no older than twenty himself. Surely he's too old for that little costume, she thought to herself, squinting slightly to get a better look at him.
All bore confused expressions as their eyes scanned the room, momentarily pausing on Sabrina and the others. Ben came into view just a moment later, and the girl swore the strangers looked like they had seen a ghost.
"This... is the Sparrow Academy," Reginald Hargreeves spoke, regaining the attention of the eight individuals. Now that Sabrina got a better look at them, they were all dressed quite oddly. They looked like they had been dragged straight from a television screen out of some old movie.
"Dad, who the hell are these assholes?" Ben asked loudly, taking another step forward. The girl had to roll her eyes at their Number Two, always acting like a dickhead.
"Ben," a lanky man with slightly longer, wavy hair gasped, his eyes wide and his arms stretched out as though gesturing to the boy. Sabrina tilted her head at him, he looked a bit like Jesus, though dressed more like a hippie from an old cartoon.
"Is that really you?" A much taller, broader man stepped forward, his hair in an ugly buzzcut that made her appreciate Walmart Jesus' appearance slightly more. His build was slightly intimidating, he was definitely bigger than Marcus, who already towered over Sabrina.
"And who are the weirdos on the balcony?!" another man, with wavy hair and dressed in a black suit that made him look like a knock-off batman, yelled. The girl already didn't like his attitude.
"They are the Sparrows," Reginald replied from behind them, gesturing to the six who were currently looking down at the living room. "My children."
The dark-haired boy in the school uniform turned his gaze back towards them. His eyes finally landed on Sabrina and his frown deepened. The girl raised an eyebrow at him challengingly, caused the edges of his lips to quirk up. Oh, she liked this one.
"I'm sorry," the boy started, his gaze finally snapping away from the nineteen year old girl. She only just noticed the splatters of blood littered on his cheeks and white shirt collar. What on earth had they been up to? "What do you mean your children? That's not possible, old man."
Sabrina snickered slightly, though Fei nudged her to quiet down.
"Of course it is! I think I would know, wouldn't I?" Sabrina couldn't help but feel like Reginald was playing with them, and it made her wonder if he knew more about his intruders than they expected he did. The eight shared confused glances.
"Everyone can see Ben, right?" Walmart Jesus spoke again, his eyes still trained on Sabrina's brother and his face a shade or two paler. "And his new gaggle of... gaggle of..."
Ben scowled at him, crossing his arms. "Cute hat, Sundance." In response, the man held a hand over his heart, whether in real offence or mock offence, the girl couldn't really tell.
"They call themselves the Umbrella Academy," Reginald stated, tipping his head towards the people who had randomly appeared in the living room.
"You'd think they'd have at least one umbrella then," Sabrina muttered quietly, though her siblings on the balcony found no amusement in her comment. Maybe I'm just not funny, the girl thought to herself with an eye roll.
"A group of scheming, perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963 when I was away on business in Dallas," the old man continued. "They claim to be my spawn." Sabrina couldn't help but release a small giggle at that, once more regaining the attention of the overage schoolboy. He narrowed his eyes at her, as though studying her.
