I escorted the old man in jogging uniform back to place. I was surprised when I found that it was a gated estate. The old man looked like any elderly people I would see.
"Hey kid, sorry that you have to help me get back home. I'm too tired after jogging."
"Ah, don't worry sir... but uh, aren't a bit too old to do that anymore?"
"I'm a healthy sixty-six year old, kid. But I understand the concern." He looked at me and then at the gate. "Say kid, since your school's way too far now, how about you rest at my home? I can call your school to cover for you."
"Uh, I don't know---" Then I remembered what my dad said when I was a kid: 'Be kind to others, Mark. Want you to spread happiness to everyone, and don't ask anything in return. You're going to get rewarded sooner or later and one way or another. I want you to be a better man than I was when I was your age.'
After that, the old man asked me again since I spaced out. I shook my head and said, "I'll take your offer, sir." I smiled.
