In my new home with two different 'grownups', (I suppose they are a new Papa and Mama?) they had a really clear and big window that stretched three quarters down the wall. And it had this robot arm/leg thing that wiped down when it rained and the window became unclear. Then it would be freshly cleaned and crystal clear again. I loved sitting in the fluffy cushions and looking out at the birds and sunny clouds. They reminded me of Tomie.

Sometimes, we sat together on the balcony in little swings and seats, and we watched everything in the sky. The azure blue when it was summer, dark big clouds mixed with bright white clouds when it was winter, twinkling dots of stars in the inky black night sky, the luminous warm hues of the sunset... but the most loveliest one of all, the rainbow. Tomie said that something called 'refraction' made rainbows and it involved the sun and the rain, which were and came from the sky. That sparked my love for the space above.

Tomie would always  have a transparent glass of water when we sat at the balcony. Light reflected through in pastel hues. But the chilled liquid inside wasn't really water, because it was flavoured. I know because he gave me some. It wasn't milk either. It was some sort of lemon drink with a little bit of sweet stuff inside, and he really enjoyed it. I didn't. So I drank my milk, like usual.

The memories flooded into my head like a string of photographs. I stole a glance at the new Papa and Mama. They were nothing like the old Papa and Mama, and not even close to Tomie.
