It was morning, and since the other didn’t have any shifts scheduled, Louis knew Elias would be at home. It was almost pathetic, but he had spent the entire night planning exactly what to say and do when he met him. His hair was unkempt, and his face still looked tired from lack of sleep, but he felt... excited. This would go well, he was sure. It had to go well. He parked in the lot under Elias' building and leaned back against his seat, picking up his phone.
Louis spent some time composing the text, making sure it wasn’t too direct but still got his point across. He reread it three times before he was satisfied, and then pressed send.
"Morning. Are you awake? Come down, I’m waiting under your building."
Louis took a deep breath, his heartbeat much faster than normal. Damn, he was acting like a teenager with a crush instead of a 35-year-old man who owned an entire business empire. It was pathetic and childish, but he just felt so... excited about today, about what he had planned.
He clutched the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white with anticipation, until finally, Elias responded.
Elias, who had just woken up and was planning to order takeout and spend the day in bed with Netflix, probably not even shower because dammit, it's his rare day off, read the text with bleary eyes.
'...It’s like... 7 a.m. I just woke up.' he slowly typed back.
Louis huffed a little before quickly typing out a response.
'I’m aware, so hurry up and come down. I’m waiting under your building. I don’t have all day. And wear something nice- I’m taking you out for lunch.'
Elias stared at the message, rereading it to make sure he wasn’t mistaken.
'Lunch at... 7 a.m.?'
Louis rolled his eyes, amused. He would have been irritated if it wasn’t so endearing.
"No, genius. I’m here to pick you up. We’ll go somewhere- a surprise for now- and then I’ll take you out for lunch.'
'Just get ready and come down.'
He waited a few minutes, but there was no response from Elias. The other had read his message but wasn’t replying. Ugh.
Louis had no idea why he was so worked up about this. It wasn’t his first time meeting Elias; they’d known each other since they were kids, for Christ’s sake. Yet here he was, acting like it was a first date.
After fifteen minutes of waiting with no sign of Elias, he decided to drag him out himself. He took the elevator to Elias’s floor and punched in the entry code.
"Elias! You better not be sleeping again after oh-so-politely ignoring my message!" he called, his voice echoing through the penthouse. Louis was about to cross the lobby when he saw him, and his steps stilled.
Elias had just walked out of his bedroom, his hair a mess and eyes still slightly unfocused from sleep. He was dressed in a baggy T-shirt and shorts, holding a Frappe. Overall, he looked... adorable. Louis bit back a chuckle, but then his gaze fell on the frappe. Hadn’t he...just woken up?
Elias froze when he saw Louis standing there, his hand holding the straw to his lips mid-sip. He chuckled sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
“Uh... morning? I was just about to come down...” he mumbled, his eyes sleepy. He’d been counting on today to relax, but those plans went out the window the moment Louis showed up.
Louis, meanwhile, was staring at the frappe with a look that could only be described as a disappointed parent gaze. “A frappe? At 7 a.m.? Isn’t that a bit much sugar for right after waking up, doctor?”
Elias blinked in disbelief. Had Louis come here just to criticize his lifestyle choices? He scratched the back of his head, turning up his bullshitting skills up to maximum, “I... uh, I’m... hypoglycemic. That’s why. And it’s only a frappe!"
Louis raised an eyebrow, not buying it at all. “Sure. Hypoglycemic.”
He stepped closer. “So, you’re telling me, a doctor, you, who’s presumably educated in nutrition, are drinking a frappe first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, because of your ‘hypoglycemic condition’? Sounds legitimate.” His voice was dripping with sarcasm.
Elias didn't try to bullshit more, because honestly, it was a flimsy excuse. He scoffed, “Okay, fine, I just like the drink. Happy? And I don’t show up at your door at 7 am to judge your lifestyle, do I?” No one messed with his morning sugary drink fix. He continued in a self-righteous tone, “It’s my ritual. I can’t start my day without it.”
Louis stifled a laugh, clearly amused by Elias’s tone. It was endearing, really. In a sudden motion, he snatched the drink from the other, taking a sip himself.
“No, but I’m not a doctor, now am I? Also,” he waved the frappe slightly, “drinking this every day is unhealthy, you know that, right, Dr. Kang?”
Elias snatched it right back. He knew it was childish, but he couldn’t help but huff, “I’d rather live a year or two less than live miserably without it.”
Louis snorted. “Sure, say that again when you’re diabetic at 40.” It was hypocritical of him to say that, considering his own terrible habits of overworking and skipping meals, but Elias didn't need to know that. He looked at the blonde for a moment, taking in his messy, half-awake appearance, and let out an almost... fond sigh. “Go freshen up and get ready. Take your time; I’ll wait here.”
Elias scoffed, but he knew he’d have to comply. In a petty act of defiance, he purposefully slurped on the frappe, just to make a point, which earned him a light swat on the head from Louis.
“Brat,” he muttered, though there was clear endearment in his tone.
AN- sooooo I made a relationship chart (is that what it's called? Who knows.). I've blurred out spoilers (hehe ( ꈍᴗꈍ)) but here it is~
(A little reminder- Daniel is the politician senator dude and Ashley was raphael's friend. Since these characters haven't appeared much, I clarified for the PPL who might've forgotten them (being someone who regularly forgets characters myself, I understand your pain guys (〒﹏〒))
