The next day dawned bright and sunny, but the chaos was already brewing.
As I made my way downstairs, I could hear Heeseung and Karina laughing in the kitchen. Their playful interactions filled the air, and I couldn’t help but smile at the familiar sound.
I found Jaeyun lounging on the couch, his hair tousled and still wearing the same hoodie I had borrowed the night before.
He looked up at me and grinned, the memory of our kiss lingering between us like an unspoken secret. But before I could tease him about being lazy, the front door swung open.
"Good morning, everyone!" shouted Jungwon coming inside, with an energy that felt like a whirlwind. He came in, a bright smile plastered on his face. "What’s cooking? Smells delicious!"
I shot a glance at Jaeyun, who rolled his eyes slightly but couldn’t hide his amusement.
Just as I was about to respond, Jungwon stepped over and plopped down next to me, grinning widely. "Hey, Hana! You look cute today! What’s your secret?"
I felt my cheeks flush at his compliment. "Uh, thanks? Just the usual."
Before I could recover from the unexpected attention, Jaeyun shot me a look that screamed possessiveness.
He leaned forward, his elbow resting on his knees as he shot a playful glare at Jungwon. "Yeah, well, I wouldn’t say it’s the usual. She looks better than usual."
"Oh? Jealous, are we?" Jungwon teased, wiggling his eyebrows at Jaeyun. The atmosphere was charged with a mix of tension and playful rivalry.
I tried to defuse the situation with a laugh, but Jaeyun's expression was a mix of annoyance and amusement. "I’m not jealous. Just stating facts."
"Sure, buddy," Jungwon replied, unfazed. "But honestly, you should take some tips from me on how to treat a lady." He leaned closer to me, winking. "Like taking her out for ice cream after breakfast."
My eyes widened, caught off guard by Jungwon’s boldness. Before I could respond, Jaeyun scoffed. "Ice cream? Really? That’s your idea of romance?"
Jungwon shrugged, undeterred. "Hey, ice cream is timeless. And delicious. Plus, who can resist a good scoop?"
Karina and Heeseung walked in, carrying plates piled high with pancakes.
Karina, catching the tension, smirked. "What’s happening here? Are we having a love triangle without me?"
I groaned internally. "No love triangle! Just breakfast!"
"But it sounds like it could get interesting," Karina teased, her eyes glinting with mischief.
"Yeah, let’s not make this a thing," I said, trying to steer the conversation away from chaos.
As we all sat down to eat, the playful banter continued. Jungwon kept making jokes, and Jaeyun would shoot him a glare, which made me giggle.
I could feel the heat rising in Jaeyun’s cheeks whenever Jungwon focused his attention on me, and it made my heart race.
Suddenly, Heeseung chimed in, "So, what’s the plan for today? More love drama or are we keeping it low-key?"
Karina smirked, "How about a group outing? Ice cream, maybe? Jungwon seems to have a thing for it."l
Jungwon clapped his hands. "Yes! Ice cream is a must!"
Jaeyun crossed his arms, clearly not thrilled at the idea. "Do I have to come along?"
"Of course you do! You can’t leave Hana alone with Jungwon," Heeseung said, laughing. "What if he tries to charm her?"
I felt a mix of embarrassment and amusement, my cheeks flushing again. "I can handle myself, you know."
"Sure you can," Jungwon winked again, and Jaeyun’s grip on the table tightened.
As we finished breakfast, Karina’s phone rang. "It’s my mom. I’ll be right back!" She dashed out, leaving us with a tension that was palpable.
"I guess it’s settled then," Heeseung said, leaning back in his chair, clearly enjoying the chaotic energy. "Ice cream it is! Let’s see if Jungwon can impress Hana!"
As we made our way out, Jaeyun lagged behind, clearly annoyed but also trying to hide a smile. "Just remember, Hana, you don’t need to be charmed by anyone else."
I glanced back at him, a teasing smile on my lips. "Jealous, are we?"
"Maybe a little," he admitted, his expression softening as he reached for my hand, intertwining our fingers as we walked together.
The sun shone brightly above us as we made our way to the ice cream shop, the banter and laughter continuing. It was a beautiful mess,
and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
