Level: The Endless Garage (Level 781)

The cold, sterile air of the parking garage hit Alyx, Cosmic, Kasper, and Fabian like a slap in the face. After the horrors of the grocery store, they had expected something—anything—different. But here they were, standing in a massive, dimly lit, multi-story parking garage, the air heavy with the smell of oil, rubber, and concrete. The low ceiling and endless rows of empty parking spaces stretched out before them, their footsteps echoing eerily in the cavernous space.

The flickering fluorescent lights above cast long shadows that danced across the polished concrete floor, giving everything a sense of constant motion. It felt as if the garage itself was alive, breathing around them, shifting subtly beneath their feet.

Alyx, still reeling from Dusty's death, felt a weight in his chest that hadn't left since the grocery store. His fur, still matted with dried blood, stuck to his skin as he moved cautiously into the open space. The others weren't faring much better. Kasper's eyes darted around nervously, and even Cosmic, usually calm and composed, had an edge to his movements. Fabian led the way, his hand gripping his weapon tightly, his jaw set in grim determination.

"Another one of these levels," Fabian muttered, his voice low but tense. "Feels like a trap."

"It always is," Cosmic said, scanning the dark corners of the garage. "But we don't have a choice. We keep moving."

They moved deeper into the garage, the silence pressing in around them. It wasn't long before they noticed the signs of something lurking nearby. Strange, claw-like scratches marred the concrete walls, and the faint sound of growling—low, guttural, and primal—echoed through the levels above and below them.

"We're not alone," Kasper whispered, his voice trembling.

"No," Alyx said quietly, his heart sinking as he realized they were walking straight into another nightmare. "We're never alone."

They descended to the lower levels, each step taking them further into the bowels of the parking garage. The growls grew louder, more distinct, but the source remained hidden, lurking in the shadows. The fluorescent lights flickered more frequently now, casting brief moments of darkness that seemed to stretch longer with each flicker.

It wasn't until they reached the third level down that they saw them—the twisted dog creatures.

They emerged from the shadows, their bodies contorted and wrong. These creatures had once been dogs, but whatever had happened to them had twisted their forms into grotesque, nightmarish shapes. Their fur was patchy, falling away in places to reveal raw, bloodied skin. Their jaws were unnaturally wide, lined with jagged teeth that gleamed in the dim light. Their eyes were vacant, glowing faintly with a sickly yellow hue, and their limbs were elongated, too long, as if they had been stretched by some cruel force.

There were four of them at first, slinking out from behind abandoned cars, their bodies moving unnaturally fast, twitching as they stalked toward the group.

"Shit!" Fabian barked, pulling out his weapon and backing up. "We need to move—now!"

But the creatures were fast. Too fast. They lunged at the group, snarling and snapping, their claws scraping against the concrete floor as they charged.

Fabian was the first to react, swinging his weapon at the nearest dog-creature, catching it across the snout and sending it tumbling to the ground with a yelp. "Get to the stairs!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency. "We can't fight them here!"

Alyx, Kasper, and Cosmic bolted toward the nearby stairwell, dodging between parked cars and broken pillars as the creatures pursued them. The growls and snarls grew louder, more aggressive, as the twisted dogs gave chase, their jaws snapping dangerously close to their heels.

They reached the stairs and began to climb, but Fabian stayed behind, covering their retreat. He swung his weapon again, catching another of the creatures in the ribs, but there were too many. More of them poured out from the shadows, their twisted forms filling the space, their snarls echoing off the walls.

"Fabian, come on!" Alyx shouted from the stairwell, panic rising in his chest as he watched the creatures swarm.

But Fabian didn't move. He stood his ground, his eyes fixed on the approaching horde. "Go!" he shouted back, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and resignation. "Get out of here!"

"No!" Kasper screamed, starting to run back toward Fabian, but Cosmic grabbed him, holding him back.

"We can't save him!" Cosmic growled, his voice breaking. "We need to go!"

Alyx felt like his heart was being ripped from his chest as he watched the scene unfold. Fabian, always the leader, always the one to take charge, was sacrificing himself so they could escape.

"Fabian!" Alyx shouted, his voice hoarse. "Don't do this!"

But it was too late.

The twisted dog creatures lunged at Fabian from all sides, their claws and teeth tearing into him. He fought back with everything he had, swinging wildly, but there were too many. Their jaws clamped down on his arms, his legs, his neck. Blood sprayed across the concrete floor, the crimson pooling beneath his feet as the creatures tore him apart.

Fabian's screams echoed through the parking garage, a horrific, gut-wrenching sound that made Alyx's blood run cold.

"No!" Alyx yelled, tears streaming down his face as Cosmic dragged him up the stairs.

Fabian's last cry was cut short as one of the creatures clamped down on his throat, silencing him forever.

Alyx's legs felt like they were going to give out, but they had no choice. They ran. They ran up the stairs, their hearts pounding, their minds reeling from the horror of what they had just witnessed.

They burst out onto the top level of the garage, gasping for breath. The air up here was just as cold, just as oppressive, but at least they were out of the shadows. The fluorescent lights above flickered sporadically, casting the rooftop in eerie, intermittent light.

Kasper was sobbing, his body shaking as Cosmic held him upright. "He's gone," Kasper choked out, his voice barely audible. "Fabian's gone."

Alyx felt numb, his mind struggling to process the loss. First Trap, now Fabian. The Backrooms were tearing their group apart, one by one. He wiped the tears from his eyes, forcing himself to stand straight. They couldn't stop now. They couldn't let Fabian's sacrifice be in vain.

"We need to find the exit," Alyx said, his voice hollow. "We have to get out of here."

Cosmic nodded, his eyes hard with determination. "We'll honor Fabian by surviving. We can't let this place take us too."

Together, they moved across the rooftop, scanning for any sign of an exit. The garage stretched out before them, an endless sea of concrete and parked cars. The distant growls of the creatures echoed from below, but up here, they had a momentary reprieve.

It wasn't long before they spotted it—a glowing sign, barely visible in the far corner of the rooftop. The word EXIT flickered faintly in the dim light, a beacon of hope in the midst of the nightmare.

"There!" Alyx pointed, his heart pounding with renewed urgency. "That's our way out!"

They ran toward the exit, their bodies aching, their minds shattered, but the promise of escape pushed them forward. The creatures below hadn't given up their hunt, but they were far enough behind now that the group had a chance.

They reached the door and flung it open, revealing another stairwell leading down into darkness. The familiar, eerie glow of the Backrooms awaited them below, but it didn't matter. Anything was better than the parking garage, better than the twisted creatures that had torn their friend apart.

Alyx, Cosmic, and Kasper descended the stairs, leaving the parking garage behind, leaving Fabian behind.

They had escaped, but the cost had been devastating.

Fabian was gone.

As they stepped into the next level, the oppressive weight of loss hung over them, but they knew they had to keep going. They had to survive. It was the only way to honor the friends they had lost.

But deep down, Alyx wondered how much more they could take before the Backrooms claimed them all.
