~Police Station~ (Two days later)
Sonic is reclined in his father's desk chair, waiting for his father. The station is extremely active with every cop running back and forth. They are on high alert due to the recent breakout, but Sonic pays it no mind. He tosses a ball in the air, ignoring the officers running around the room. Scourge rolls up beside Sonic in another desk chair.
He smirks at Sonic, "Don't you just love an active police station?" He heavily inhales, "Ah, and think. This will be you in a year or so." Sonic frowns at him, "Remind me why you're here again." Scourge huffs, "To comfort you! Why do you always assume I have ulterior motives?" Sonic shrugs, "Habit?"
Scourge slides his chair in front of Sonic, playfully pouting, "So...how's our little blueberry?" Sonic pulls out his phone and scrolls, "Fine." Scourge blissfully smiles at him, "Dude, why don't you just talk to her?" "You mean the way she talked to me? No problem, I'll do that right now."
Scourge sits Sonic's chair up and looks him in the eyes, "So Amy made a mistake. We all make mistakes. At some point, you just gotta build the courage to come off that bridge and let it go." Sonic frowns, "You were the one encouraging me the most to have a backbone with Amy. Now you want me to give in and forgive her? Forget it! Everyone blamed me for years over Amy disappearing after prom night. Now that it's no longer my fault entirely, I still have to apologize?!" Scourge scoffs, "I told you to grow a pair. I didn't tell you to break up with her on her birthday." "So it's my fault again?!" "Will you calm down?"
Sonic slouches in his seat, "...How can I forgive her for something like that? I mean, I know things weren't the best between us, but she could've told me something about Elias. I was her best friend. She knew things about me that no one to this day knows...and she couldn't even trust me with details about her getting bullied or her depression." He shakes his head, "Then to top it off, she dated that asshole. I mean...Elias?!"
"Well, to be fair, you dated his sister. And I can tell you which acorn I hate more." Scourge says, spinning in his seat, and eating some chips. Sonic frowns, "Yeah, well at least I told her." Scourge stops spinning and nods, "I don't think it was your fault, Sonic. You're just stupid and unfortunately, there's no cure. Amy, however, should've opened that trap of hers and maybe crippled some of those bastards, then maybe none of this would've happened." He sucks his teeth, "It may have been a tad unorthodox, but can you really say you don't understand why Amy did what she did?"
Sonic looks away from him. Scourge folds his arms, "We all heard the same story, Sonic. They practically tortured her. And using context clues, I can guess that wasn't the first time. She was angry and afraid." "Then why not tell me? I would've always helped her." "You heard her yourself. She was afraid of feeling like you were her personal bodyguard. I'd wager that's more of a personal feeling than fact. I guess she was also scared of losing you as a friend."
Sonic looks at him confused, "What do you mean by that?" "I mean, you were all she could obsess over, so once you got a girlfriend, she gave up on trying to be a lover. She was content with being your friend. But when that monster you were dating started putting thoughts in her head, she probably felt she was losing you as a friend, too. Maybe she felt like you were more focused on protecting her, rather than being her friend." Sonic shakes his head, "But that's insane. I only protected her because I wanted to, not because I had to."
