Finding out Aunt Cindy died was devastating. She was only in her 60s, but her cancer caught up to her. Riley and her were extremely close throughout his whole life. It shattered his heart. No one in the family was surprised when he was left the house.

The dust on the creaky wooden floor flew up under the heavy stomp of boots. A loud, throaty cough rang out through the empty house. "God," He cleared his throat. "This place is a shithole." Riley scoffed.
Daniel's eyes lit up as he entered. "I know right!" The younger boy exclaimed giddily. "Totally ghosty!" It made him giggle in excitement. He brought his camera up to his face, looking to take some pictures of this mess of a house.
The bleach-blond-boy looked up in confusion when his camera was completely dark, only to find his older brother's hand covering it. "No pictures," He protested. "I'm not trying to get featured in one of your dumb videos."
Daniel rolled his chocolate brown eyes and scoffed. "Buzzkill." He murmured, making Riley roll his deep-set brown eyes.
Daniel had a YouTube channel with a couple thousand subscribers. But to him, he was practically Zac fucking Bagans. On his channel, he would film himself and some other paranormal investigators going to supposedly haunted locations to look for ghosts.
What does Riley think? It's all bullshit. Everything had an explanation. Plus, it's not like they ever actually caught anything on camera. No wonder they barely got any views. Still, Riley would never be too rude to his baby brother about it. Who is he to crush a guy's dreams?
The two boys made their way through the house, tearing down cobwebs and wiping dust from shelves. The kitchen was, thankfully, still semi-functional. So, with the few groceries Riley had bought on the way and the wine Daniel brought as a housewarming gift, they prepared a not-so-fancy dinner of chicken and mashed potatoes. The wine was cheap, but what did the brunet really expect from his younger sibling?

Cold water ran from the tap, wetting the blue and white toothbrush. He scrubbed the minty, black charcoal toothpaste onto his pearly whites, getting every nook and cranny. He flossed every night, making sure to get them as clean as possible. If there's one thing Riley Sanchez was scared of, it was the dentist.
Riley's tan arms stretched back behind his head, loosening his muscles. He settled into the old, creaky bed. He had previously changed out the dirty quilt for a soft comforter, tossing the former in the wash while making sure to take good care of it. He did love his aunt, and he wanted to preserve her memory in the house. Which meant keeping her quilts intact, the ones she so dearly loved making, the ones she made for him all his life.
He settled under the covers, grabbing his silver, barren laptop. If he was going to live here, to pay bills, he needed a roommate to share the burden with. So, he posted on roommate websites, and social media, and asked around with some
friends. But now, it was time to rest. Eyes fluttering closed, breathing finding a steady rate as he drifted off.* * *
love interest will be arriving soon!
