One of the lost boys approached slowly. "I'm Devan." Rory smiled at him "Hi. I'm Rory. Do you need something?" Devan nodded "Yes, actually. Pan says that until you make food, you can't have any." "Excuse me?" The poor boy was stuttering lightly. "Pan said that until you submit to making meals for us all, then you don't eat at all." A soft smile graced Rory's lips. "That's how he wants to play? Alright. You tell Pan that I'll sooner starve to death." Devan went pale "Please, Miss. Just give in. We all want a mother figure, and you could be that. Please don't challenge Pan, you'll die like the others." She sighed "That's very sweet and I have no trouble being that. But I would not be yours, or anyone's, inferior. No. I'm sorry but-" She hesitated, absorbing his last words, "What do you mean, 'like the others'?" Devan yelped. "I can't say anything else! I'm sorry!" The boy bolting away caused a coughing fit for Rory, the dust kicked up entering her lungs. "Sorry, Devan. I'm not giving in."
Days. Days had passed since their standoff began. Days since she had eaten. And yet neither were ready to back down. The Lost boys felt like they were in a cold war, a stalemate, spending their time watching Rory and Pan stare each other down constantly, silently challenging the other. One lost boy, Lucas, whispered to Felix "I give it a week before they sleep together." Felix's mind reeled "Excuse me?" "I mean look at them. No way that level of tension just comes from respect. There is for sure some sexual tension there." "Whether there is or isn't doesn't matter. Because Pan will have our heads on a pike if he hears this conversation. And I know Rory. She's willing to die on this 'respect' hill. She isn't going to sleep with him." Lucas shrugged "Yeah maybe. Or maybe she'll make him better. Would be nice to have that paradise Neverland." Felix nodded "Of course it would. But for now, we just have to make sure we don't get too attached to Rory because I have no idea how long it'll be before he snaps completely." Lucas nodded "Shame. She's hot." Felix smacked him, "Seems you need a lesson in manners too, you pig."
