The classroom was a buzz, buzzing like twenty-six bees in a hive. Chatter was clattering, gossip was spilt and class clowns were throwing paper airplanes and playing mini-games.

The chatter stopped once he walked inside the classroom, leaving gaping mouths and bedazzled sparkles in students' eyes. Stationery were dropped and clattered on the floor, all in sync, whilst bestowed on the Jaden Kim.

Jaden Kim is one of Selina's friends... or even just aquaintances. He's one of the popular kids within the boys in our year, especially with his twin Sean. Jaden is really athletic, super intelligent, and is really funny. He knows almost everyone in the entire school, and loves to hang out with almost everybody.

It's almost impossible not to like him.

He entered the room, quiet as a mouse, and sat with his table of friends and began to lay out his stuff. He got out his pencil case, bags, and even other devices such as his phone and calculator. Whispers began to spin around the classroom. Whispers, talking about how delightful and dreamy he is.

However, this didn't effect Selina. Selina and Jaden rarely talked; and if they did, it was only to ask a question or just have a mere conversation.

    Today was different.
Today was the first day Selina started to like him.

It all started on a Tuesday, in the beginning of the year, throughout the year, and towards the end.

    SELINA'S POV

The alarm rung into my ears, echoing thunder and lightning through my head. I rubbed my eyes and turned off my lamp, turning on my room light for me to see. I opened my closet door and grabbed out my uniform, wearing the top with a tie, skirt, socks and then some jewelry. My earrings were in a star-like shape, plated in gold and shining like a diamond, concealed with bold yellow.

I packed my bag, securing every little piece of notes and books I need throughout the day. I also double-checked my checklist, so I don't forget anything during the day. I also triple-check the calendar, making sure no events were missed and I don't have to die of embarrassment.

    I'm ready.

I walked down the stairs and met my mother in the kitchen. She was making some breakfast for me and the family.

"Good morning, Selina. Here is your breakfast to start the day," my mother greeted.

"Thank you." I answered. I took the plate and sat down on the dining seat, munching and crunching on my breakfast to start my day.

I looked back and forth on the clock. I'm supposed to leave the house in five minutes. I'm all ready, I'm all suited up... but I just feel incomplete and missing something. I wasn't sure what it was, so I shrugged it off. I glanced at the clock and saw it was time to leave. I waved goodbye to my mother and left off to school.

It's my last year of high school. Next year, I will be going to college and take on a career of software engineering in the IT industry, with planning my half-time job as an author. I'm prepared to take on this year — whether it will be the best or worst year of my high school life.

I walked through the gates and was greeted upon other students in the same grade. I saw some younger students — freshmen and sophomores — look at me. They checked me out, up and down, and then winked at me as if they were a sly fox.

I saw my group of friends. They were Paige, Ella, Addie and Soha. Paige waved at me, Ella greeted me with a smile, Addie ran to me with a hug, and Soha gestured for me to come to them. I quickened my pace, being careful to not be called on, and greeted my friends with a wave.

"Hey Selina! How are you?" Addie asks.

"I'm good, thank you." I reply.

"Selina, have you heard about Jaden's new girlfriend?" Soha asks.

I stopped smiling, my mouth gaping with shock. Ever since he talked to me, even just rarely; I've had a secret, little crush on him. I don't even know if he knows I exist in this world... or if I'm just a small grain of sand in an endless time of an hourglass.

Either way, I can't help it.

I shake my head and Soha laughs. "I'm just kidding! You're so dramatic!"

Paige hits Soha, hitting her on the back. Soha rolls her eyes and then lets out a little giggle.

"So, what do you guys have today?" I ask them, reviewing my classes and schedule times.

"Ugh, I have Languages first thing in the morning!" Addie groans, "I hate the new teacher for Languages; she's so bossy and angry all the time!"

"I have Languages too!" Ella says. "You don't have to suffer alone anymore, Addie!"

"I have Creative Arts first thing in the morning," Soha smiles, she exhales happily, with a hint of 'phew' at the end.

    "I have a free period," I say.

"Since Selina and I have the same schedule, I also have a free period!" Paige exclaims.

The bell rings for class and we all leave to our classrooms. On the way to our homeroom, we leave Addie and Ella to their Languages classes. Soha went the other way for Creative Arts in the Art Studio upstairs. Paige and I walked down to the homeroom and saw all of out other classmates and peers just hanging out.

There I saw Jaden. Jaden was with his two best friends, Brendan and Luke, chatting amongst themselves about their life. Paige nudged me once I looked at Jaden. He caught me looking, quickly yet awkwardly looking away and becoming a hint of bright red.

Paige and I sat near them. This is what Paige called 'Cupid Protocol'. This 'protocol' is where the person who has a crush is seated next or near his/her crush and eavesdrop to the information. Afterwards, the 'cupid' — who is the 'buddy' of the person with the crush — will gather information to support the other person and give tips on how to either confess or to drop hints to their liking.

Paige took out her separate notebook and began to note-take everything the boys were saying. Her pencil jabbed and strucked the sheet, dotting important, useful and necessary information on the notes she takes.

I look at Jaden. He's too perfect for me, so why do I care?
