As an educator, I met a talented little chef named Nadine. I knew such talent should never be wasted, So I offered her an apprenticeship. The shenanigans we pulled are some that still get told to this day. However, before I go with where we are let's go from how this started.
This all started One very Late night, I was fatigued. I however was also famished. See in my cooking spree I had failed to grab a plate myself, Heading into the kitchen I rubbed my eyes opening the fridge to grab some leftovers, I rummaged around as I mumbled "Something smells good... where's the dang leftovers?"
A small voice replies, "Oh down by the lettuce!"
I half mumbled thanks before Grabbing a Plate and then pausing and turning. And staring at the small child baking a midnight snack "Wait a moment" I turn to her as she realizes and takes off running. What followed was a cartoonishly hilarious chase that I'd love to play to the sound of Chicken Dance but on the accordion. Finally capturing her I place her in Iso and tell her in the morning we need to talk.
The Morning came and I released Nadine We sat on the 3rd floor as I talked to her "Listen....You cannot be in the kitchen without permission...That being said, I know when I see a talented chef. I also know when not to allow Talents to go to waste. How about we cut a deal? I will take you in as My apprentice, which gives you permission to be in the kitchen while I am, BUT you absolutely cannot be in there without me."
Nadine only thought about it briefly "sounds fun mom!" I seemed surprised, Nadine was the first Orphan to call me mom since my rank up, I smiled and nodded handing her a badge "when you grow up that will let you join us as staff"
I smiled and out lessons Began right away, I taught her how to make proper breakfasts how to season and more I watched her slowly grow more skilled pouring better and beamed with pride, I also watched her shenanigans joining those that will come too.
The first shenanigan she got up to had to be a simple yet hilarious one...maybe not to The Advisor Involved...But to me It was hilarious. See this Advisor had been bugging me all day to join me in cooking which was denied each time as previously stated A.NO PALIAS ALLOWED TO COOK ONLY TO SEASON! (and even that's debatable) B. she had not washed her hands. This caused to them to get upset demanding to help. Nadine the ever-bright child she is approached with a pot of boiling water, and for some strange reason the Palias Dunked her hands in the pot without considering the aftereffects she pulled her hands out screaming as the pot fell and Nadine ran, I scooped her up a protective grasp on her as the Palias stares with fury.
The argument that ensues is one for the books, with both of us scolding each other them wanting to punish the kid before relenting as Ari even Chastised them for sticking their hands in a pot without asking questions. I comforted Nadine who was quite shaken and sent her to bed before cleaning the kitchen up The Advisor later came in leaning at the door. "can you tell Nadine I'm sorry"
I nodded silently focused on cooking She eventually headed out for the day, and I finished breakfast, however amongst catching roamers and cooking I entirely forgot to eat! Next thing I new Nadine Violet and Victoria all surrounding me, Violet handed me a plate of food quickly prepped by her and Victoria while Nadine had made sure I wasn't hurt, Proud of them I thanked them both another quick conversation and I had two more apprentices.
In between shifting and teaching them cooking my hands were full, I slowly forgot about my plant takeover plan, and I think to some extent Pom was relived.... until she saw my small army. This led to us cracking jokes before she flipped her hair sassily and walked off just accepting it as little Vitoria set some carrots down. Next thing I knew I heard Pom's surprised shriek as a KeyLime pie had hit her, she came in covered in filling as I tried unsuccessfully not to giggle.
All of us were decked out for the Halloween month as a educator My favorite was the ghostly Tudor, I traumatized so many kids. but also comforted as many, I started a coven amongst Staff and even joked i turn frog into a duck, Diolencia showed me some magic tricks which I entertained the kids with I found myself having so much fun with all the games and activities at bay. I got to watch a custodian be promoted. I Never knew what would come at the end of the month.
