OC x Axel Kovacevic-
Vanya Martin was a mystery. To most she was a troubled teen with a heart made of gold. To others, there was a side only the lucky ones were allowed to see.
No one saw the battles she fought everyday. However, no matter how dark...

Sam POV
I walk onto the beach and look out a the sea. I turn my head to look around and see the boy that was getting hit earlier. He was training with his shirt off, very focused. He freezes when he sees me.
"Oh, sorry, I-. Sorry, I... I didn't mean to startle you." I walk closer to him. "Um... I'm Sam by the way."
"Axel," He replies, not making eye contact.
"That's a pretty cool kata. What's it called?"
He looks at me and looks away again. "I... I am not supposed to speak with opponent."
"We're not on that mat." I smile at him friendly. He doesn't say anything but I notice his eyes keep flickering to something behind me. "It's pretty late to be training, right?"
"Always time for training." Bending down to pick up his shirt, I see marks on his pack.
"Whoa, whoa! What happened to your back?"
Uh, from bo staff competition," He says, continuing to put on his shirt. His eyes going past me once again.
I shake my head and scrunch my eyebrows. "Nobody's been able to land a point on you yet." Axel doesn't say anything and looks at the ground, and the truth dawns on me. "I saw what happened with your sensei."
"My sensei wants me to be the best. It's because of him I never lose."
"There are other ways of teaching. I mean, I gotta admit, your dojo's pretty great."
"Thank you," He answers, his focus still not completely on me.
I turn around and follow his glaze to a figure sitting down on the beach, feet in the water, hugging her knees. I knew who it was the moment I saw her because the light of the moon and city shone off her blonde hair. Only one person I knew had that blonde of hair, and was not at the bar with the rest of us. Vanya.
"She's very beautiful, isn't she?"
His face turns shy and his cheeks have a red tint. "I don't know what you are talking about."
"Let's go talk to her. Come on." I wave him over and he picks up his jacket, following me.
Sitting on the beach, I hug my knees and rest my face on them, feeling the cool sand beneath me. The gentle waves lap at the shore, their rhythmic sound soothing my mind. As I look out at the vast expanse of water, the moonlight dances on the surface, creating a shimmering path that seems to stretch out to infinity. The ocean's endless horizon reminds me of the limitless possibilities in life, and I feel a sense of calm wash over me.
Above me, the night sky is a canvas of twinkling stars. Each one seems to tell a story, a tale of ancient times and distant worlds. I lose myself in the constellations, tracing their patterns with my eyes. The stars seem to whisper secrets of the universe, filling me with a sense of wonder and peace. In this moment, I feel connected to something much larger than myself, a part of the grand tapestry of existence. I had always loved the night. Wanting the stars to take me so that I could dance among them.
The cool breeze carries the salty scent of the sea, and I breathe it in deeply, feeling it fill my lungs and refresh my spirit. Hugging my knees tighter, I close my eyes and let the sounds and sensations of the beach envelop me. Here, under the vast sky and beside the endless ocean, I find a profound sense of tranquility. This is my sanctuary, a place where I can simply be, at peace with myself and the world around me. It was the only place here that I could feel that way at.
I hear footsteps coming closer and I look over to see Axel and Sam. I smile as they approach. "Hey Sam, hey Axel." I say, my face feeling hot.
"You two have met?" Sam asks.
I nod, making eye contact with Axel, my face softening as I do. The heat leaves and my heart starts to flutter. "We have."
There is a comfortable silence as Axel and I continue to just look at each other. Sam clears her throat causing me to look at her. I tilt my head at her and she looks over at Axel, giving him a look. He straightens up and looks at me again.
"I saw you fight. You have to be one of the best fighters I have ever seen."
I laugh, softly, standing up and brushing sand off my bottom. "I doubt I'm any good compared to you." I struggle to put my socks on my wet feet, but manage and also put on my shoes.
"You're pretty-" He spits out, flustered. Looking at him, a warm smile feels frozen on my face. "You're pretty good. Amazing actually."
"Thank you. I appreciate it. Maybe we could train together sometime." Axel looks speechless, staring at me shyly.
Eventually he nods. "Want to walk back to the hotel?"
Nodding, I uncross my arms and move so I'm in between the two. "Why didn't you come to the bar with the rest of the dojos?" Sam asks me.
I shrug, "Not my scene, and I'm sure some kind of drama would get stirred up. I try to stay out of all that kind of stuff. Plus, I don't drink and don't like being around people who are. Just makes me uncomfortable, I don't really know why." I knew why.
"I understand," Axel adds, his accent thick. "I feel the same way. And aways, more important things to do."
I look over at him, my eyes meeting his once more before dropping to his lips. Looking away embarrassed when he catches me, I look back at Sam. "What about you?"
"Just needed to get out of there."

Sam POV
I couldn't believe my eyes. I had never seen Vanya so vulnerable before. She never really showed emotion around me or anyone else. Just Tory and now this guy, Axel. It was cute. They were both such tough fighters but seemed to turn soft and shy around each other. She was smiling, I had known her for a little while and had become close with her, and she never smiled.
As we walked back to the hotel, I couldn't help but notice how obvious it was that she was completely smitten. She kept sneaking glances at him, and every time he said something, her smile got a little bigger, like she couldn't hide it. It was kind of cute, honestly. He had this way about him, super easygoing and sweet, that I could tell she vibed with. They kept laughing and teasing each other, both of them blushing like crazy. She'd glance at him and quickly look away, like she was trying to hide it, but it was pretty clear how much she liked him. I couldn't stop smiling watching her get all nervous and excited around him. It was like they were in their own little world, and I was just along for the ride.
