The bustling hospital hummed with life, but beneath the surface of its cheeriness lay a tension that had been growing for weeks. As Doctor Juvia Lockser moved through the hallways, attending to her patients, she felt the weight of her position in the hospital—and the presence of its owner, Gray Fullbuster.

Gray had always been more than just a charming friend; he was the driving force behind the hospital, a figure of authority whose decisions shaped the place they worked. But as admiration morphed into something akin to obsession, things began to feel increasingly complicated.

"Hey, Juvia!" Gray's voice echoed as he approached her, clipboard in hand. He wore his usual confident grin, but Juvia could sense an undercurrent in his demeanour, an eagerness mixed with something deeper. "How are things going today?"

"Busy, but manageable," she replied, forcing a smile. "We have a few patients waiting for care, but we'll get through it."

"That's my girl," Gray said, his gaze lingered on her longer than necessary. "You're doing an amazing job here."

Juvia's stomach twisted at his praise. It was sincere, she knew, but there was an intensity behind his words that made her uncomfortable. She felt as if she were constantly under the microscope, examined not just as a doctor but as his sole focus.

"Thanks, Gray," she replied, trying to keep her tone light. "I appreciate the support, but... we should really focus on our patients."

"Of course! The patients come first!" Gray said, snapping back to his role as the hospital owner. "I've got a meeting with the board later; they want to discuss expanding the clinic hours. I'll need your input on that."

"Sure, but maybe we can talk about it later?" Juvia suggested, her heart pounding. The thought of sitting down for a meeting with him alone felt daunting. Already, it seemed every interaction was filled with unspoken questions and swirling emotions.

"After work, then?" Gray's grin was disarming, but there was something almost predatory in the way he leant closer.

"Uh... okay," she muttered, caught off guard. Before she could formulate a better response, Lucy Heartfilia strolled in, her presence a welcomed distraction.

"Juvia! There you are! We've got a new patient in Room 3 who needs immediate care!" Lucy exclaimed, her expression cheerful and brightening the tense atmosphere.

"Right! I'll go see them," Juvia replied gratefully, eager to escape the weight of Gray's expectations.

As she headed off, she could feel Gray's gaze following her, that attentive look of his weighing heavily on her shoulders. She had come to recognise it all too well; it was a look that made her feel cherished and claustrophobic at the same time.

Later that evening, Juvia found herself in the conference room, preparing for the meeting with Grey. The sunlight streaming through the tall windows painted soft highlights across the polished table, but the warmth did little to ease her anxiety.

"I'm glad you could make it," Gray said, stepping in with a stack of papers and a smile that again felt too intense. He took a seat opposite her, the air between them fraught with an unspoken tension.

"Of course. You wanted to discuss the board's plans for the hospital?" Juvia said, trying to focus on the task at hand.

"Yes, but first." Gray began, his expression shifting as he leant forward, his voice dropping to a more serious tone. "I've been meaning to talk to you about... us."

Juvia's heart raced, and she felt as if the air had been sucked from the room. "Us?"

"Yeah," he said, running a hand through his hair, breaking from the usual composed facade. "I know things have been a little... intense between us. I just want to make sure you know how much I care about you—about your safety and your well-being."
