"I had fun , Itadori. I'm glad we were able to spend the day together." I mentioned to him as I held door open for us to exit the bar. "I hope you know that this means a lot to me."
"I had a good time too Fushiguro! We should do this again sometime. As in... just us two." he replied , his voice changing from passionate to embarrassed at the last part."We should. I like it when it's just me and you." I smiled reassuringly. "Attempting to shop with the others would be too chaotic for my liking." I chuckled as my mind started wandering to all the possible scenarios that could occur.
"To be honest , you would probably be responsible for half of the chaos." I looked at him in amusement.
"Shut the fuck up." he said to me while trying to hold in his laugh.
"What was that?" I asked , turning to him in disbelief.
"Nothing!" he replied quickly while looking around innocently.
"Right , that's what I thought."We continued walking for a bit longer , enjoying the cool evening breeze and the peaceful silence that hung in the air. The sun was still just about up , even though it was already quite late.
"You excited for the trip?" Itadori asked me , breaking the silence.
"I guess." I shrugged my shoulders. "I'll just have to see when I get there. What about you? Are you looking forward to it?" I turned to him as I anticipated his answer.
"I would say I'm pretty excited. It's a chance to get my mind off of things." he replied.
I wonder if he's talking about the nightmares...My mind drifted into thought about what he could be talking about , but I decided to leave it for now as to not dampen the mood.
"I hope there's good food there." he continued while looking down at the ground , probably picturing various meals in his head.
"When are you not thinking about your stomach , Itadori." I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes. "I'm sure there's good food there. Gojo would never take us somewhere that doesn't have nice food , as stupid as he may be." I stated.
"Now that you mention it , he's never taken us to any food place that he knows we wouldn't approve of." Itadori mentioned as he thought.
"See , nothing to worry about." I let out a chuckle. "I'm sure we'll all have a good time regardless."
He nodded in agreement. We were both pretty tired , and fortunately , we made it back to school grounds quite quickly. That was mainly due to Itadori and his speedy walking , which I was grateful for this one time.
"Thanks for walking so quickly Itadori. If it wasn't for you , we'd probably only be halfway!" I mentioned with a smile as he unlocked the gate.
"Yeah we would! 'Cause you walk so damn slow!". He responded.
"I can walk fast if I want to!" I retorted.
"Yeah yeah whatever Fushiguro." Itadori rolled his eyes at me as we walked through the field. We quickly made our way upstairs and into the common room to catch our breath before calling it a day.
"Wait..." Itadori started as he sat down. "Why don't we just ask Sensei what we're doing on the resort?"
"He probably won't tell you. Gojo's stingy like that." I crossed my arms and leaned back into the couch. "Don't let me stop you from trying though. By all means , go ahead."
"You can never be so sure!" he stated , attempting to not let the uncertainty seep into his voice. He rummaged for his phone in his pocket and started typing aggressively. After a few seconds , he started reading what he texted.
"I said , 'Hey Sensei. What are we gonna do on the resort?'" he paused as he rested the phone on his lap. "Hopefully he responds quickly..." Itadori continued stared at his home screen , anticipating a response.
"He's not going to tell you. Trust me." I said to him , even though he still wasn't going to listen to a word I uttered.
A notification went off , and he scooped his phone up like it was about to run away from him. He took a moment to read the message then let out a sigh.
"You won't believe what he said..." he stared at me with a blank look. "He said 'It's a surprise' with three exclamation marks and the shushing emoji."
I opened my mouth to speak when he immediately cut me off."Don't say I told you so!" he put up a finger at me.
"But I did tell you..." I let out a slow shrug.
"You're so annoying!" he laughed as he shoved my shoulder.
"Hey!" I shoved him back , trying not to laugh at his antics. After the laughter between us died down , Itadori allowed another sigh to escape his lips while he shook his head , disbelief still running through his body. "I didn't think you would actually be right."
"Itadori... I've known Gojo for years. I've picked up on so much of his behaviour." I mentioned casually.
"Fair enough." Itadori said gloomily as he finally accepted defeat.
"We'll be fine! Gojo's never disappointed us with his 'surprises' , even though they may be dumb sometimes." I mentioned , all the memories of Gojo's surprises flooding into my mind.
I couldn't help but smile to myself as I remembered them. There was only one surprise that I couldn't smile about. The surprise that Gojo revealed about Itadori being alive when we all thought he was dead. I still couldn't forgive myself , afraid that something like that may happen again.
I subconsciously clenched my fist in hurt and guilt as the events of that night replayed in my head.I snapped out of it as I realised that Itadori was still here with me , and I couldn't let him know that something , especially to do with him , was still hurting me.
From this point on , I tried to act as normal as I could , attempting to make it less obvious something was on my mind.I let out a long yawn , sleep tugging at my eyes. While I yawned I was interrupted by a voice , and to my surprise , it wasn't Itadori's.
"Looks like someone's had a long day!" Kugisaki smirked as she walked into the room and leaned on the counter , crossing her arms.
"What's with you and popping up out of nowhere? Can't you ever just... make yourself known?" I complained.
"I could if I wanted to... but I don't. So." she shrugged.
All I could do was shake my head , knowing that arguing with her was pointless.I looked over at Itadori as he had just been following the conversation with his head the whole time. I noticed that he had been unnaturally silent , which usually only happens when he has something on his mind.
The diary...
"Anyway. I'm gonna go to my room now. I'm starting to get sleepy and I don't wanna fall asleep here." I chuckled as I started getting up.
"Goodnight Itadori , goodnight Kugisaki." I looked at each of them as I said their names.
"Goodnight Fushiguro." Itadori smiled with tired eyes.
"Night Fushiguro." Kugisaki waved me goodbye.
"Itadori , I have something for you. I'm gonna slide it underneath your door." I said to him as I stepped out the common room and down the hallway.I walked sleepily to my room , the shower calling my name. I decided not to take too long as all I wanted to do was collapse onto my bed.
After showering and completing my skincare routine , I wrote on a sticky note and placed it on top of the journal that I got for Itadori.Dear Itadori ,
I know you've been feeling better than how you were before , and I'm so proud of you for that. Even so , I decided to get this journal for you so you can write down anything that may be on your mind. I hope you appreciate it. :)
