TW: mentions of blood!

We follow the trail of blood, forgetting all about the field trip. "I hope whatever it is or whoever it is are okay." I say worried. "What makes you think it's a person?" Chris side eyes me. "I dunno." I respond shrugging. "Well, you're being stupid, and I doubt it's a person." He snaps in a rude voice to me.

I felt taken aback a little by the snappy response. But I immediately make sure he can't tell it made me feel that way. "We've been walking for like 10 minutes already. This is getting a little stupid." I complain. Chris ignores me and starts walking faster. I raise my eyebrows, the air starts to feel weird, and I have a bad feeling.

"Chris, you're freaking me out. What's going on!" I say frantic and scared. Chris whips around and slaps his hand over my mouth, and pushes me down to the ground. "Mmmm! Mhmm?!!" I try and talk, but his hand covers my mouth. "Shhh! Shut up! There's a person with a gun!" He whispers frantically. His eyes show fear, and I see his eyes start to well up with tears.

I nod, and he removes his hand from my mouth and quickly sits down next to me, trying not to make any noise. "Whos there?!!" A deep voice says in a snarl. My body starts to tremble, and I look over at Chris. He is already looking at me, his face tense, and he looks like he is gonna pass out. I grab his hand to comfort him.

We stay down for a good 20 minutes, and the person finally leaves. "You. Stay here. I'm gonna go see if we are clear." Chris says in a stern whisper. "No!" I whisper back to him, grabbing the side of his shirt. "Stop, I'm going, and you can't stop me." He removes my hand from his shirt. He sneaks out and makes his way into the clearing.

I stay down for another 2 minutes, and I finally hear his voice. "Come out, it's all clear." He says through the brush. I sneak out and stand up straight. My head whips around to look at my surroundings. "What do we do now?" I ask, biting my bottom lip. "Shit, so I dunno..." He responds in a worried smile. "Great. Just great. How the hell is this gonna work." I start mumbling to myself. I feel a panic attack coming up, but I try and push it down.

"Let's try going this way." Chris says and starts walking. "But wait, what if we are following that person?!" I say, standing there in shock, but he just keeps walking without responding.
