TESSA'S POV:
"When is Miles coming back?" I asked one of the bodyguards as he stood by the door to my right.
"He said he'd be back at six, ma'am," was his response.
I hummed in agreement, finishing with cooking the eggs and set them on a plate on my right. "I made some eggs. Maybe you and your friend want some?"
"No, we're alright, ma'am." He kept straight by the door. "We appreciate your kindness, though."
I nodded and stepped over to the counter, starting to prick at my meal before taking a small bite.
But a walkie talky on the man's hip beeped. "Movement found in the east forest," someone said, making the bodyguard look down. "Subject description matching one of Johnathan the killer. Heading for the client's house through the forest in the back! Code 150! 150!"
The bodyguard suddenly stood up straight and gazed down at me. "Ma'am, we have to go."
My brows drew together as the panic brimmed inside me. "What about Miles?"
"We'll let him know about your whereabouts," he responded, catching my arm and dragging me up. "We need to go!"
He pulled me toward the front door.
The panic inside me deepened.
"Wait!" I cried then. "Miles! We need to call Miles! He'll be targeted if he comes here!"
And I couldn't deal with that. I couldn't lose him.
The guard ignored my attempts at fighting and tossed me into the backseat of his car.
I cried out, tumbling before he got into the driver's seat and immediately started the car, driving off seconds later.
I scrambled to a sitting position, pulling my phone from my pocket.
I then dialed Miles.
It rang once, twice...
"Hello?"
"Miles!" I yelled then, catching my breath. "Don't come back to the house! Please! Don't!"
"Tessa?" he said then, voice dark. "What happened? Did someone come over?"
"They heard him in the forest and I don't know where they're taking me!" I told him. "Please, don't come back! I'll let you know my location once we arrive!"
Before he could answer, the phoneline clicked, and I gasped for breath, looking down at my phone to find "call disconnected" flashing on the screen.
I then gazed out the window, finding us entering the forest; the dead drop zone.
It was almost an hour drive, and every second consisted of a day itself, and I was nearly sobbing when we found a cabin in the woods, and the driver exited the car, coming to my side seconds later.
He opened my door. "Alright, ma'am. If you'll please follow me—"
A gunshot immediately echoed through the woods, and I screamed.
The bullet sliced right in between the guard's eyes, and he fell forward.
My heart started burning with fear, and I stared up to find a familiar man with dark black locks and hardened eyes lowering his gun.
The large, sadistic smile immediately showed itself, and it reminded me of all those years ago... when he found out I'd been trying to escape.
My eyes widened, breaths stilling.
Johnathan.
How did he find me?!
HOW?!
I immediately scrambled away, gasping when I rounded the car.
