"Are you done yet, or do you just plan to keep this going forever?"
Holding the wedding bouquet tightly in his hands, Chen Yihao glared coldly at Wang Qian, seated inside the car.
"What do you mean by 'done yet'? Chen Yihao, are you out of line? My daughter isn't even officially married to you yet, and you dare to show her this attitude? Talking to her like this?"
Before Wang Qian could say anything, her mother jumped in, indignant.
But Chen Yihao couldn't care less about his future mother-in-law right now.
His sharp gaze locked onto Wang Qian.
However, Wang Qian wasn't one to back down.
"Chen Yihao, what's that supposed to mean?"
"I'll ask you one last time: are you getting out of this car or not?"
Clenching his teeth, Chen Yihao was teetering on the edge of an explosion.
"My mom said a dowry of 66,000 yuan is a customary gift. Her friends' daughters received 88,000. I'm only asking for 66,000 to show appreciation for my mom raising me, and your family still can't agree?"
Wang Qian sneered, completely unfazed by Chen Yihao's simmering fury.
After all, no matter how furious he'd gotten in the past, he always caved and apologized within minutes. Wang Qian had never felt the need to worry about his anger.
"Customary gift, my foot!" Chen Yihao growled, his entire body trembling.
"I'll ask you one last time-are we getting married or not?"
His roar stunned everyone, especially their parents.
"Yihao, are you out of your mind?" Liu Xueqin, his mother, cried, grabbing his arm.
Chen Yihao shook her off roughly. "Move!"
"You ungrateful bastard!" Wang Qian's mother shouted, furious.
"Chen Yihao, how dare you talk to me like that?"
Wang Qian, glaring at him from inside the car, looked utterly shocked. "You begged me to marry you! You think I'm desperate to marry you? Fine! This wedding? Forget it!"
"Fine! Fine! Fine!"
Chen Yihao laughed maniacally.
Just as his brother Chen Yinuo was about to speak, Yihao recalled all the times he'd bent over backward to please Wang Qian.
He snapped completely.
The wedding bouquet in his hands was smashed to the ground, and he kicked the open car door violently.
"Have it your way! To hell with it! This wedding? I'm not marrying you!"
The car door shuddered from the impact.
Ripping off the groom's badge from his chest, he flung it to the ground along with his bowtie.
This shocking scene left everyone frozen in place.
Chen Jianguo and Liu Xueqin, his parents, paled as their minds went blank.
Guests were already gathered in the wedding hall. The hotel staff had prepared the stage, lights, and music. Over twenty banquet tables were set, and everything was ready for the celebration.
If the wedding fell apart now, not only would the Chen family be humiliated, but the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan they had borrowed for the event would go to waste.
But it wasn't just the Chen family panicking.
The Wang family was equally mortified.
Since this was a union of two families, both their relatives were present. If the marriage didn't go through, both families would become laughingstocks.
Wang Qian's mother couldn't believe this normally submissive son-in-law had erupted over a mere 66,000 yuan.
"Chen Yihao, fine! You think I'm afraid of you? You think I can't find someone better? This wedding? It's not you refusing-I'm refusing. Don't you dare crawl back to beg me later!"
Tearing off her bridal badge, Wang Qian tossed it out of the car and slammed the door shut.
"Disaster, absolute disaster!"
Suddenly, Liu Xueqin burst into tears, slapping her son on the arm.
"Do you even know what you're doing? All our friends and family are waiting in the hotel! Everything's ready! You've spent hundreds of thousands, and now you're saying the wedding is off? Go apologize to Wang Qian right now!"
"Mom, forget it. Even if we become the joke of the town, I'm not marrying her. We can make more money later, but I won't sacrifice my self-respect!"
Yihao tried to walk away, but his father, Chen Jianguo, blocked him.
"Where do you think you're going? We can't face that kind of shame! Even if you don't care, your mother and I do!"
"Shame? Haven't we already lost all our dignity today?" Chen Yihao sneered.
"Listen to me carefully: this marriage is off. I won't apologize, and even if she begs me, I'll never marry her!"
"You ungrateful son! How do you expect us to explain this to everyone? Do you want to drive us to our graves?" Chen Jianguo yelled, trembling.
"Don't worry, I'll give you all an explanation. And no guest will leave without being properly addressed."
Teeth clenched, Chen Yihao pulled out his phone and made a call.
At a wedding company across town, Lin Qiwen was slumped on a couch, utterly exhausted from hours of non-stop work.
"Qiwen, are you feeling unwell? If you're not up to it, take a break," her supervisor said gently.
"Thank you, Sister Yang. I'm fine," Lin Qiwen forced a smile.
"You don't look fine. Is it because of the wedding at Four Seasons Hotel? Someone said it's for a guy you've had a crush on..."
"Sister Yang, I-"
Before Qiwen could respond, her phone suddenly rang.
The caller ID: Yihao.
Her heart pounded violently.
