Heather by Conan Gray *not related to the txt messages* female reader

Heather was perfect in every way. The way her curls bounced as she laughed at something her friends had said. Or the way her eyes gleamed brighter than the blue sky.  The way her eyes scanned every room until she found him hadn't gone unnoticed. But what hurt more was the fact that he did the same. I've listened to him talk about her for hours on end; she seems like such an angel.. But then again I kind of wished she were dead. I watch his eyes as she walks by he just seems so mesmerized.. but I wish it were me. I wish he looks at me like he does her; or have him talk about me like I placed every star in the universe. But it'll never be me. I'm not even half as pretty.

Today had gone like an every other day. Watching my best friend Mason and Heather be a happy couple. But I couldn't escape the thought that it should be me. I  just become more distant. I stopped sitting by him in class, and just tried to avoid him without making it as obvious. But he always seemed to notice. The hurt evident in his eyes.

As the bell rang I made a quick exit but not quite quick enough. He grabbed my wrist spinning me around to face him.

"What's going on with you?" His voice stern but broken as he stared deep into my eyes. I almost forgot why I was avoiding him. Until I saw Heather walking down the hall way in his sweater.

"Do you remember the 3rd of December?" I suddenly questioned. He looked taken aback but answered quickly.

"Yes."

"You gave me your sweater. You even said in looked better on me then it did you." I reminded him before I slowly removed my wrist from his grasp.

"Yeah.." his voice responded meek.

"Mason... i-i just can't pretend anymore. I like you ok? Completely head over heels but I see the way you look at her. The way you look for her in every room you walk in. It hurts Mason. It physically hurts. I don't want to feel like that Mason..."

"No y/n stop." He replies searching for my hand again.

"You have her now Mason and I'm fine with that ok! I'm happy for you! But I'm not just gonna sit here and wait. I need to get over it!" I said surprisingly calm. But my my heart dropped into my stomach when I saw tears well in his eyes, some dripping down his face.

"No. Please.."

"Please what Mason?"

"Just don't go.. I need you ok? Please." He said. But I already made up my mind. I brought my thumb up to wipe his stray tears, him gently grabbing my wrist as If to hold me in place.

"Maybe we'll work out in another time mase. Maybe even another life." I smiled sadly before removing my wrist once again and walking away feeling his eyes on me the whole time.

Maybe I were half as pretty, he'd kiss me...
