Fate, however, was not content to let their story end with mere letters. In the years that followed, tensions between Inazuma and Fontaine began to ripple through Teyvat. The mysterious energy that powered Fontaine's machinery started leaking into nearby seas, affecting trade routes and disturbing Inazuma's waters. Concerned for her nation and intrigued by the mystery, Yae Miko decided it was time to leave the comfort of her shrine once more.
When she arrived in Fontaine, she was greeted by chaos: rumors of rogue criminals from the Fortress of Meropide wreaking havoc aboveground, Fontaine's judicial system under pressure, and whispers of a deeper conspiracy. Wriothesley, as Lord Incognito, was balancing his role as the enforcer of order in the fortress while trying to uncover the root of the crisis.
Their reunion was far from romantic. It was on the battlefield—an ambush by rogue engineers near the fortress gates. Miko, ever graceful in battle, wielded her Electro abilities with precision, her fox-like grin intact even as danger loomed. Wriothesley, with his gauntlets and relentless strength, was a storm of icy fists.
When the last enemy fell, Wriothesley turned to her, panting slightly but composed. "You have a knack for dramatic entrances, don't you?"
"And you," Miko replied, smoothing her robes, "still know how to make a mess of things. Shall we call this even?"
Their banter resumed as though no time had passed, but the weight of the crisis hung heavy between them.
