(The soft rays of the morning sun filtered through the tall, ornate windows of the guest room in the Romano Mansion, casting a warm glow on the luxurious furnishings. Anaya stirred on the plush bed, the events of the previous night still a blur in her mind. As her eyes fluttered open, she took in her surroundings—a room too opulent to belong to anyone.

Sitting up slowly, she ran a hand through her tangled hair, her gaze falling on the wardrobe in the corner and the intricately carved door across the room. Her thoughts were interrupted by a light knock at the door.

The door opened to reveal a young servant, impeccably dressed, carrying a rack of dresses on a hanger.servant smiled politely.)

Buongiorno, signora (Good morning, madam). Mr. Alessio has arranged these dresses for you. Please choose one for the day,” she said, her voice soft but formal.

I frowned, shaking my head. “I don’t want any of them,” i replied firmly, crossing my arms.

The servant hesitated for a moment before pulling out a phone from her pocket. “I have a message from Mr. Alessio for you,” she said, her tone unwavering. She pressed play on a video, and my heart skipped a beat when Alessio’s face appeared on the screen.

In the video, Alessio leaned casually against a desk, his dark eyes filled with mischief as he smirked. “Kitten,” he began, his deep voice making her stomach churn with both unease and annoyance. “Rome is 546 kilometers away from here. Do you really plan to go back in that torn dress, looking like you’ve just survived a war? I suggest you make use of what’s offered. Be smart, kitten.”

The video ended, and i stared at the servant, my cheeks flushed with frustration. I hated the fact that he had a point. My dress from the previous night was ruined, and i couldn’t exactly leave in my current state.

“Fine,” i muttered reluctantly. “I’ll take one.”

The servant smiled again and gestured to the rack. “Please take your time, Signora (madam).”

I scanned the dresses,“This one will be fine,” i said, holding it up.

“Excellent choice, Signora (madam),” the servant said, taking the dress. “Your bath is ready. Please follow me.”

I hesitated but eventually followed the servant. “Take your time, Signora (madam). I’ll wait outside,” the servant said before leaving.

I stepped into the bath, letting the warm water wash away the grime and tension of the past day. As i soaked, my mind raced. I was in a strange place, surrounded by danger, and yet there was an odd sense of calm in this moment.

Once i was done, i dried myself off and slipped into the frock i had chosen.

Looking in the mirror, i sighed. “This will do,”.

I opened the door to find the servant waiting patiently. “Shall we, signora (madam)?” the woman asked with a polite smile.

I followed reluctantly as the servant guided me to a chair in front of a mirror. The servant picked up a brush and began gently detangling my hair.

“You don’t have to do this,”i  muttered,my tone clipped.

“It’s my duty, signora (madam),” the servant replied with practiced calm.

I sighed, letting the servant finish. Once my hair was neatly brushed and styled into a simple braid, the servant gestured for me to follow.

“Mr. Alessio is waiting for you in the dining room,” she said.
