PROLOGUE
Pilot
CORY MATTHEWS LIKED watching history repeat itself, at least sometimes. He liked how his niece was able to be a sister figure to Riley and Auggie, just like Eric.
He remembered being in the waiting room with Eric, Topanga, and Shawn. See, Eric would have been allowed in the delivery room, but he was a little too high sprung and panicking. His parents couldn't show up because of dealing with Joshua, who was still a young infant. Cory remembered how Topanga's eyes lit up when seeing Ally for the first time, like she was hers. Cut to a couple years later, there's Riley, more years after that, Auggie.
It was just a shame that Ally couldn't be around all the time. At least she wasn't before...
Cory and Topanga both furrowed their eyebrows when they heard the buzz for their apartment. Cory walked up to the button. "Who is it?"
"Oh come on, you don't recognise your own, favourite brother?" Eric's voice rang.
Cory looked at Topanga, confused. "Did you invite him?" He asked. Topanga shook his head and he grimaced. "Come on up." Cory sighed.
A minute later, Eric walked up to the doorway. It was weird, usually Ally was with him, right by his side, practically attached to his hip.
"My brother! And 'Pangers." Eric greeted with a grin. He looked to his left and motioned for an eleven-year old Ally to walk in the apartment. "Ally, we talked about this." Eric said quietly.
Ally slowly walked into the apartment with her dad.
"Hi, Ally!" Topanga greeted with excitement. She looked at Eric upon seeing the small forced smile Ally gave.
Eric looked somewhat distraught. "Ally, why don't you go see Riley?" He suggested.
"Don't leave when I walk out of this room." Ally pleaded, receiving a nod in response from Eric.
Ally walked up to Riley's room while Eric sat on the couch, burying his face in his hands.
"Eric?" Cory started.
Eric looked up at his younger brother. "Ally's been transferred to the school here after getting into a small fight at her old one, and, I can't move here, I don't have the money. But I know she needs to go here." Eric explained.
"You both can stay with u—"
"I need you to take Ally in." Eric stated. "I mean, I'm not a role model, I'm not the perfect dad, and she needs to go here." He added.
Cory furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Eric, Ally's your kid."
Eric nodded, "I'm aware."
"You two already talked about it, didn't you?" Topanga realised. Eric nodded slowly.
"I would talk to Jack, but you know... we haven't talked since a long time, and Rachel's in a different state. Rachel!" Eric suddenly shouted her name, scaring both Topanga and cory. "Is there any way that she can stay here?"
Cory and Topanga looked at each other and nodded.
"Yeah, she can stay here." Cory responded.
Eric smiled gratefully. "Thanks, and don't worry, I'll visit and call, I just..."
Cory nodded in understanding and so did Topanga.
"I just... I wish Ally had her mom to talk to." Eric admitted.
Topanga looked lost in thought. "Yeah, I remember when you called frantically when Ally got her first period last year." Topanga recalled.
"Why is there so much blood?!" Eric wondered loudly.
Ally sat in Riley's cutely decorated room and saw Maya climb through the window.
"Ally!" Maya exclaimed, running up to Ally to hug her.
Ally furrowed her eyebrows. "You're happy today." She noticed.
"Mom and I threw snowballs at the skaters outside." Maya replied with a not so innocent smile.
Ally scoffed with a small smile on her lips, but then she heard her dad's footsteps in the hallway. She knew what was gonna happen. She knew he'd visit, she knew he'd call, but she didn't want to leave him. Who else was she gonna watch baseball and hockey with on the TV? Who else would she have to listen to talk about the weather constantly?
Ally walked into the hallway. Eric crouched down to meet her level.
"You know why you're staying here, right?"
Ally nodded. "I have to go to school here and you don't have the money to move and work here." Ally responded.
Eric placed his hands on her shoulders. "I'm gonna visit and call so much that you're gonna wish that I had brought you here long ago." Eric joked, making Ally let out a short lived laugh.
