Itachi's POV

My brother, my sister... I stare grimly at their silent figures. I catch sight of Rin and my stomach twists when I see how hurt she is. I don't even want to get close to her, I don't want to see up close how damaged and broken her legs and arms are. Beside me. Shisui stares in shock but I notice that Kakashi is mostly staring at my sister.

"Rin," he whispers, and a wave of shock stabs me like a knife.

"How do you know my sister?" I snap.

Kakashi's eye widens and he mutters, "Crap," and then he sighs. "I came across Rin one time some weeks ago in the forest."

"Weeks?" I repeat, "Weeks? Rin kept you from me for weeks?"

Kakashi looked uncomfortable, "Yeah, um... So we have been meeting in the forest, talking about ourselves and practicing out skills... I became friends with her, and she told me a lot..."

I can see how Rin had improved. So, Kakashi has been training her and meeting with her just like I did with Sasuke, three years ago.

Shisui looks up in surprise, "You have a sister, Itachi?"

This was going to spread like wild fire. I better put a stop to it now. I look up at the sky, "Yes, Shisui. Please keep it quiet and I'll tell you later."

Kakashi was the first one to step towards my siblings. I immediately followed and Shisui hung back, hesitating. Shisui shrugs and then he approaches Sasuke, checking up on him.

"Your little brother just has a high fever," explained Shisui as he lifted a black piece of fabric from Sasuke's forehead, "He probably just collapsed from exhaustion."

I curse my father. If he hadn't forced me to harshly spar with Sasuke then he would be okay. Then perhaps Rin would've been okay too. My eyes move over to Rin and I give a shocked intake of breath. Rin's seal was visible on her forehead, and the crimson ink of the first ring was running like a river down her face. Rin... Why did you release the first seal? Were you the one who caused that great column of white fire?

Kakashi looks over at me, and from his eyes I can tell that he knows about the seal too. We both shake our head and I carefully lift Rin up. Her wrist hangs at a lopsided angle and she has cuts everywhere. I look down and then I see a black mark on her neck.

"What?" I mutter, it looks like a tattoo of three tomes, like the sharingan. I'm suspicious, this mark is emitting a chakra that isn't Rin's, what got her? I touch the mark carefully and Rin twitches in my arms, but does not wake up. The mark feels hot, and my forehead creases with concern.

There are rapid sound of branches breaking and running footsteps and five Anbu burst in.

"We saw a great tower of fire," one said in a deep voice, "and Lord Hokage ordered an inspection. What happened?"

Kakashi shrugs, "I don't know myself. We rushed over the second we saw the fire too."

Another Anbu steps forward, "Why are there two unconscious children?" he demanded, "Were they attacked? Hey," the Anbu took a step towards Shisui who had Sasuke in his arms, "isn't that Fugaku's youngest son?"

"Shisui," I say quietly, "please take Sasuke back to the compound. Please tell my parents what happened."

Shisui have a short nod and he leaped away, Sasuke fast asleep in his arms. I cover Rin's face so that no one would ask questions about her identity. "Kakashi," I nod at him, "you can come with me to the hospital." I turned to the five Anbu, "I am going to take this other child to the hospital. She's badly hurt. I also request a private audience with the Lord Hokage." I put on my authority as Anbu captain, "After sending my request, warn him of infiltrators. Then, please track them down if they're still here or if they are fleeing. This is an order."
