"Theo I'm so serious. It's like I know them." I groaned as I laid in his bed tossing a ball up in the air and catching it. He and Draco invited everyone over to study but we were still waiting for everyone else.

"I believe you Dot, I just don't get it. I mean they only just got here, how could you know them already." He replied while spinning around in his desk chair.

"I don't know!" I groaned. It had been driving me crazy for the past week.

"And you're sure this hyper fixation of yours isn't just a convenient distraction from figuring out how to break up with your boyfriend?" He asked causing me to throw the ball at him and he caught it with ease.

"Oh hush!"

"I'm just saying. I could do it for you if you're scared. I just...I want you to be happy. You deserve to be happy. Happier than Xavier Grant could ever make you." He muttered sneering at the mention of my boyfriend's name. He was right, I guess I had been stalling. But exams were coming up and then these new kids? I've honestly barely even seen him.

"You guys! Guess wh-oh, where is everyone?" Pansy asked walking into the room and I shrugged but sat up anyway.

"Ok, doesn't matter. Look at this!" She exclaimed holding up a poster causing Theo and I to quickly approach her.

"Theres going to be a ball!" I gasped excitedly

"Emerald come quick! Oh my gosh, it's awful!" Tracey exclaimed causing me to look up from my book in confusion. I hadn't talked to the girl all year but seeing her approach me so frantically put me on edge. I quickly stood to follow her and she lead me down to the common room. Just as my feet hit the last step I heard the unmistakable thud of someone being punched.

"What the hell is going on down here?!" I yelled, my voice booming off the walls as I looked at where Draco now stood over Xavier. The older boy currently sporting a bloody nose but I was more focused on Draco. I couldn't see his face as his back was to me but it didn't matter. I couldn't tell from his body language that he was furious. His shoulders raised in slow steady breaths as his fist curled tightly at his sides. His head turned slightly to the side as if he couldn't decide whether he wanted to look at me or glare at the boy on the floor.

"Dra-I...what happened?" I spoke slowly as I approached the pair. Stopped just beside Draco, my eyes looking between him and Xavier. Then back to Draco as I slowly looked him over checking for injuries. When I didn't see anything I held my hand out pulling Xavier to his feet.

"Unbelievable." Xavier muttered glaring at Draco as he held his nose. I gasped suddenly remembering that my boyfriend was bleeding and I should probably do something about it.

"Uh, let's get you to the hospital wing." I mumbled wrapping an arm around Xavier's waist and pulling him towards the door. I spared a quick glance over my shoulder to see Draco sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. Before I had the chance to turn back Xavier was already pulling me out of the room. We walked in silence, Xavier using the bottom of his shirt to apply pressure to his nose.

"What hap-are you okay?" I asked softly after a few minutes causing him to scoff

"I was wondering when you'd ask. Honestly Aphie, I'm really trying here. I'm trying to be a good boyfriend and I'm trying to please you but you have to help me out a bit. I get that I haven't been great at this whole relationship thing and maybe I'll never be the man you love forever but...god what more do you want from me?" He demanded, pushing my arm away from him. I looked up at him in confusion but didn't respond.

"Do you really have nothing to say?" He asked angrily

"What do you want me to say? I don't want to fight with you Xavier. I'm tired of fighting with you. So please tell me what it is you want me to say this time." I replied, my tone completely exhausted.

"I want you to be on my side! I want you to care that I'm the one on the floor. I want you to care about someone other than Draco fucking Malfoy for once! I want you to show me an ounce of appreciation for everything I've done for you! But do you know what I get instead? I get threatened by your friends. I get no attention from you! No respect! You fight and argue with me about everything! I only want to help yo-"

"I can't do this anymore." I exclaimed cutting him off from what was guaranteed to be one of his usual rants. The two of us now stood silent, just staring at one another. His shoulders moving up and down rapidly as he attempted to catch his breath from yelling.

My hands shook at my sides as I waited for the tense silence to end. Then he began to laugh.

"What do you mean 'you can't do this anymore'?" He sneered, clearly trying to intimidate me.

"I mean, I'm breaking up with you. I'm done." I replied simply, causing his entire demeanor to change to one of shock.

"What? You can't be serious. I-"

"I am. I've been meaning to do it forever. I'm sorry Xavier but this." I paused to gesture to the space between us with a sigh.

"It's not working."
