(Damon's POV)
“Come on, Damon. Wake up. You're leaving tomorrow, you know.” Mom said, shaking me awake then leaving the garage.
I jumped out of bed and pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and a t-shirt. I did my hair and went into the kitchen.
“Damon.” Lucille said from the end of the stairs. If I'm awake, she likes to play a game called 'I'm Not Touching The Carpet After The Stairs. Damon, Carry Me Everywhere.' I walked over and knelt down so she could climb onto my back. Once she was on, I carried her to the kitchen table.
“Lucy, get off of your brother's back.” Mom said.
“My name is Lucille!” Lucille said, jumping off my back and climbing into her chair. Lucille has this problem where if you don't call her Lucille, she gets super mad at you.
“I'm going to skip breakfast today, alright?”
“Oh no your not. Sit.” Mom said, pointing to the chair I was leaning over. I sighed but sat down.
“Where's daddy?” Lucille asked.
“He had to go to work early. But he'll be back around 7.” Mom came around with a frying pan full of bacon and distributed it between Lucille and I's plates.
“Do I really have to eat this? I told you I'm not hungry.”
“Damon, I don't care. Either you eat it, or I'm not taking you to California tomorrow.”
I quickly ate the bacon and ran back to my room to finish my packing.
“Damon..” Lucille called from my doorway.
“What, Lucille?” I looked up from my suitcase to see Lucille standing at my doorway holding out a piece of bacon. “Mommy wont let me go back to my room until I finish this.”
I took the piece of bacon from her and ate it. She giggled. I picked her up and slung her over my shoulder and carried her up to her bedroom.
“Don't disturb me! I'm trying to pack!” I yelled throughout the house before entering the garage again.
“Hey.” Skylar, a friend from school, said as she pulled up the garage door and came in.
“Hey.” I said back but didn't look up.
“So your leaving tomorrow, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Everyone at school is going to miss you, Damon. Especially since you didn't tell anyone.”
“I told Josh.”
“He doesn't count. You didn't tell me..”
“Sorry. Must have slipped my mind.”
“Oh.” Skylar sounded surprised.
“Sorry..?” I finally turned around to look at her. She was sitting on my bed, looking at an old picture of Lucille and I.
“Please, don't touch that.” I took the picture from her and put it back on my nightstand.
“Damon.” Skylar smiled at me and grabbed my hands. I wiggled them a little, but couldn't loosen her grip. Finally, I got it to where she was at least only holding my wrists.
“I'm really, really going to miss you.” She leaned in to kiss me but I turned my head away from her. She wrapped my head in her hands and tried to kiss me again, but I kept pulling away.
“What is wrong with you?” Skylar asked.
“What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? We barely ever hang out and you think that you can come into my house and try to kiss me? Seriously, Skylar. I'm sorry but just because I'm leaving doesn't mean I'm going to kiss everyone goodbye. Speaking of goodbye, I think it's time you left.” I pulled up the garage door and held it open until she walked out. She was about to say something else, but I closed the door.
