After carol had begged Rick to go back out for Sofia and he refused, Carla hugged him.
She didn't know why but she thought it would make him feel better.
And ,while she couldn't tell, it did.
Rick felt all warm and soft when his daughter, his little girl showed such affection to him.
And he knew that this whole end-of-the world-situation was hard enough to deal with as an adult, he could only wonder how hard it was for a little girl.
The rest of the evening Rick kept Carla close and she stayed.
She even ate.
Only a little bit but more than she had the last few nights.
And then Rick let her fall asleep on his lap and everything was going to be okay because Carla had her dad and Rick had his daughter. Right?

The following morning the group began to plan a search plan for Sophia.
After about thirty minutes of protests both Carla and her brother had been given permission to go with the group.
Rick laid out the weapons Carl had found in the car yesterday telling everyone to take one.
However, Carla didn't need one. According to her mother.
But, Carla didn't put up a fight because unbeknownst to her mother she had a knife and a gun.
That was more than Carl.
Speaking of the whole 'gun' situation Glenn had dragged her away after dinner to question her.
But he didn't make her give it up.
She told him she wanted it to protect herself and he respected that. He also did a pinky swear to not tell her mom or dad.
Carla stood next to the Korean man who smiled in delight holding the axe in his hand.
After waving bye to Dale who smiled at her she trudged on through the highway following her dad but still, directly infront of Lori.
She had a hand on her pocket where her pocket knife rested but didn't want to take it out unless necessary.
She saw Carl trail back looking to see him going to her uncle Shane and turned to see her mom half smile at her which she returned.
It was only moments later her brother returned to the side of her mom Carla wasn't hanging onto.
She could sense Carls sad demeanour from two feet away. She knew her mom did too because she rubbed her brothers hair.
"You okay?" "I think Shane's mad at me."
Carla didn't know why her uncle would be mad at her brother and the last time they spoke Shane hadn't seemed angry at her.
"Did I do something wrong?"
"No."
Carla looked to her brother and grabbed his hand patting it to show she was here.
He looked up at the contact and gave her a sweet smile that was reserved especially for his little sister.
"No honey, I promise you."
Their mother put an arm around both of them and kept walking.
But behind them witnessing their sweet family moment, was Shane. He was mad.
He didn't want Carl to be sad because of him. He wanted Lori to stand there with him and watch Carla and Carl play together. He wanted them to be his own family.
His.
Not ricks.
All his.

They had followed the group and ended up at a makeshift 'camp site' and once Carla had gotten a good view she saw that Daryl was going in the tent.
She wanted to tell him 'wait!' But she kept silent inching forward.
Rick told carol "call out softly. If she's in there, yours is the first voice she should hear."
Although it was hushed Carla heard him.
"Sophia, sweetie, are you in there? Sophia it's mommy. Sophia. We're all here ,baby. It's mommy."
Daryl went in and came out in a few seconds.
Sophia wasn't with him.
Carla's heart sunk.
She heard Daryl speak
"It ain't her."
'Thanks for stating the obvious' Carla thought, rolling her eyes.
Andrea asked "what's in there."
"Some guy. Did what Jenner said. Opted out. Ain't that what he called it."
Carla pulled a confused face and heard her mom breath in shakily.
The silence after Daryl's words could've cut glass.
