Louis' P.O.V
Bacon.
The smell exhilarated my senses as I tore back the covers and jogged down the stairs. I felt overly excited today, if might have been the food that foreshadowed a perfect day.
"Good morning my love," I sang once my feet met the hardwood leading into the kitchen.
I strolled over to Jess and wrapped my arm around her neck to give her a peck on the cheek. I rolled my eyes when she let out a frustrated grumble as she was distracted from her cooking.
"Can you get out two plates for our breakfast please?" Jess requested.
I retrieved the dishes from the cabinet and placed them on the counter as she transfered bacon and eggs from the skillet to the china.
"This smells incredible, babe," I complimented wanting to devour my whole plate in one bite.
"Hopefully it will taste incredible too," she hummed, shoveling egg into her mouth.
"Are you doubting your cooking abilities?" I asked her. "Because you're amazing at it."
"Thanks Louis," she beamed at me.
We finished breakfast and I helped her wash dishes, returning them to their homes in our cupboards. Just as I was going to lounge on the couch, my phone rang from upstairs. It was Harry.
"Hey Lou! How's everything in the cottage?"
"Wonderful Harry, thanks for checking up on us," I spoke into the phone as Jess walked into our bedroom.
"How are things with Jess?"
"Why don't you ask her? She's right here. I'll put her on," I chuckled and handed Jess the phone, mouthing who it was.
"Hello Harry!" She practically squealed into the phone. "I know it's only been a week but I feel like I haven't seen you in months."
I decided to get dressed as they carried on with their conversation.
"It's lovely, it's really cozy here," I heard her say in response to Harry's question, probably about the house.
I put on a plain black tee and jeans, dragging my feet across the soft carpet as I went to go shave the stubble that was starting to form. I knew Jess liked me clean shaven.
"What?" She screeched from the bedroom.
Silence.
"Harry you pervert!" She gasped. "That's a personal question!"
I stuck my head out from the bathroom, raising a questioning eyebrow at Jess. She huffed and covered the mouthpiece before speaking.
"Harry's asking about our sex life," she groaned.
"Just tell him the truth then," I smirked, continuing to run the blade over the annoying hairs. "That it's f.ucking fantastic."
Jess laughed before uncovering the mouthpiece. "Okay Harold, you asked for it so I'll give you the honest truth. Louis has been...ROCKING THIS PUSSY!"
I heard her scream and Harry cackling before she ended the call immediately after. I accidently choked on water as I laughed, splashing it on my freshly shaven face.
"And this is one of the many reasons why I love you," I smiled at her as I pressed a small kiss to her lips.
~
We decided on going into town to actually enjoy the scenery and adapt now that we didn't have to worry about people trying to hunt us down.
Walking hand in hand into a small pub, we ordered fish and chips to try for the first time.
"Not that bad," Jess cocked her head, popping a 'chip' into her mouth.
When we finished, we continued to meander down various cobblestone walkways until we turned up at an old fountain in the middle of the village. Doves madly flocked the large stone sculpture, probably spreading mad birds disease or some shit.
On the other hand, Jess was enchanted as the rabid birds landed on her head and shoulders. She extended her finger so a smaller dove could perch on it.
"Louis, look!" She giggled. "It's like I'm Snow White or something."
"How majestic," I pretended to swoon. "Now I'm going to get these crazy things off you."
I waved my arms wildly as the doves emitted high pitched screeches and flew into the distance. I placed my hands on my hips in triumph and posed dramatically.
"Not to fear, Prince Louis is here."
"You scared away my friends you arse," Jess retorted and my daydream of getting some tonight shattered.
~
Finally we arrived outside our door, when we opened it we were greeted with a Harry.
"Hello!" He squaked.
Jess screamed in surprise as I envisiosed strangling him.
"Harry how the hell did you get in here?" I grumbled.
"Spare key, mate!" He smiled, plopping down on the couch.
"What a nice surprise," Jess sighed, recovering from her fright.
"Right?" He grinned at us both. "I decided you both needed a house warming party to celebrate your new home so...here I am!"
"So, you're the party?" I asked.
When he didn't say anything I tried my best to contain my laughter but ended up failing. Jess and I laughed until we thought we were building up abs.
"Harry as much as we love you, I don't think having one person besides the two of us is a party," Jess sighed.
"Darn," he looked upset but only for a second. "Good thing I called in some reinforcements!"
As if on cue, there was a knock at the door. Jess went over to open it, revealing a girl with curly bleached hair and hazel eyes.
"Hi, I'm Emeline," she greeted Jess' blank stare. "Harry told me there was a party here?"
"Uh-"
"Yaassss!" Harry rushed as he flew to the door in three uncoordinated strides.
"Come in," Jess scooted to allow her to enter as cars started to collect in the grass.
"How many people did you exactly invite?" I sneered.
"Maybe ten close friends," he shrugged. "There'll be plenty of room."
I nervously tugged at my lip ring as the house filled with strangers. I looked over at Jess for guidance but she too was preoccupied with our guests. Harry had bought wine, pouring it into glasses and handing some to people. Harry approached me, accompanied by a beautiful girl with flowing brown hair.
"Lou, I'd like you to meet my girlfriend. Gracie, this is my best mate Louis."
"Hello," I gave her a warm smile and shook her hand politely.
"Oh, I probably should go get my girlfriend to introduce you two, hold in I'll be right back."
I set down my glass and went over to a cluster of ladies. Identifying Jess, I pulled her over to Harry and Gracie.
"This is my girlfriend, Jess," I let out a sigh of solace, feeling less anxious now that Jess was next to me.
"Hi Jess, nice to meet you," Gracie smiled, taking her arm to go talk.
The night carried on and people slowly started to get tipsy, leaving as they pleased, much to my relief.
~
Eventually the only guests left were Harry and Gracie, who were both wasted.
"Off wine? Seriously you guys?" Jess asked with a laugh.
"Ye!" Wailed Harry, waving one arm over his head.
I started to clean up the major mess our so called guests had left. So much for a house warming party. More like a home wrecking party to me.
Jess was corraling Gracie over towards the front door but was struggling a bit as Gracie continued to dance in the corner.
"Wanna 'werk though," she slurred, humping the air or "twerking".
"You can do that at Harry's flat," Jess cooed. "But for now let's get you two home."
We called a cab, not wanting our friends to wreck and helped them into the car.
"Night boy," I chided and shut the door.
Jess waved as the cabbie pulled away then slumped in my arms not a few moments after.
"I'm tirreeeddd," she moaned.
"Me too, let's say we worry about the mess in the morning and head to bed now, yeah?" I suggested and she nodded, wrapping her arms around my waist for support.
Jess didn't bother with pajamas which was fine by me and layer face down with only her knickers on. I traced lines on her back as she shifted to be able to look at me as she lay on her stomach.
"I love you Louis," she murmured in her sleepy state.
"I love you Jess," I whispered and pulled her closer, bringing my lips down to her ear as she dozed.
"I want you to know, my beautiful girl, that you always be safe with me. Thank you for accepting who I am, I'm glad you wanted me along for the ride."
I turned my head to look up at the ceiling, envisioning the sky we looked up at as we snuck out to the shack only a month ago.
The sky. I felt so free when I looked up at the sky. Maybe it was the sleep taking over but I had a small epifiany, Jess and I were like birds, escaping our fate as we flew to freedom.
A single tear rolled down my cheek as I realized this right here, was the defintion of contentment.
The End.
