CHAPTER TWO

( Flashback continued - 3rd Person POV )

Voices flurried back and forth...
"What are we going to do with her?" someone whispered.

"We're lucky those two guys didn't get to her first..." a second voice chimed in.

"Well...they're dead now. They can't hurt anyone anymore." yet another voice said- with no hint of remorse when he spoke of the dead. Skye twitched in her sleep, and this was not left unnoticed.

"She moved!" the second voice fluttered.

"Lets get her somewhere," a deep voice, who'd not spoken yet. "Where did you say she lived?" the same man questioned

"Uhm...I'm not sure..." one of the guys said, cautiously.

"Okay, well we can't just bring her to a random house so...what do we do?" the man with the deep voice spoke up again

"How about to the park!" the one with the angelic voice piped happily.

There was silence, and then the sound of a hand slapping someone on the arm.

"Are you STUPID?!" a raging voice questioned, but there was only silence.

"Where else would we bring her, Parker?"

"Well..." the voice named by Parker spoke again. "Okay, fine. We'll use Jessie's idea. Let's just hurry up before she wakes up." "Yay!" the man Jessie said with delight "We're using my idea!" "Come on Colton, lets get her moving." Parker said

"Alright," Colton said, the one with the deep voice. Then the one who had not spoken much said something.

"Hey Parker, give her your jacket." he said.

"What?! No way, Joel. Why don't you?" Parker growled.

"Because, yours is the warmest." Joel said calmly.

"Well...alright, FINE! Jeez, why do we have to help this girl?!" Parker yelled. Then there was silence.

"Let's hurry up." Colton spoke up first.

"Okay," said Jessie, still quiet. Time passed, and they reached the park. Gently, as to not hurt her already bruised body, they placed her inside one of the tubes in the playground, assuming it would be the safest place for her to stay the night. Parker shrugged off his jacket and reluctantly placed it around Skye's tiny frame. He glanced at her face, staring at her only until Jessie snapped him out of it.

"Parker- ready to go?"

"Uh, yeah, sure Jess. I'm coming." then he ran off to join the others. They checked to make sure no one was looking, then they spread their black wings, taking off into the night.

~*FLASHBACK END*~

( Skye's POV )

I crawled out of the blue plastic tunnel, examining myself. Some bruises, some cuts, and a headache- nothing I haven't dealt with before. I took off the jacket, lined with fur, and looked at it. So that's why I wasn't cold at night...I usually have nothing to keep me warm. I looked around, and seeing that people were beginning to stare, I started to walk away from my shelter. Who were the men who helped me? Would I ever see them again? I shook my head. No, they're probably rich, and live in some nice neighborhood- they could afford to give away things like expensive jackets to random girls. I don't even have a roof over my head, let alone a warm jacket. Breathing in the fresh sent from the furry liner, I let my mind wander. Why did these men help me? I must look horrible right now- not that anyone would care. I walked around aimlessly, pondering if I should go to my best friends house, Jaelyn. I always go there when I'm feeling down, but she would question me to no end. I had to get somewhere to be alone, so that I could think for a while. Not even sure of the time, I decided to gather up enough courage to ask someone.

"Um, excuse me sir?" I said, walking up to the nearest person.

"What?" he said curtly, without even looking up from the newspaper he held. I puckered up my face, not allowing my anger to get the best of me.

"Would you happen to know the time...sir." I almost spit out the last word, still attempting to keep my cool. This time he glanced up at me, his cold eyes looking directly into my blue ones.

"Its quarter after three." and with that, I left. Hoping I would still make my waitressing shift, and hopefully keep my job, I sprinted as fast as I could to the 'Grab 'n Go'. Opening the door with only two minutes to spare, I ran into the employee's back room, changing into the outfit I kept in my locker for work. Racing out of the room exactly at 3:30, I began my shift.

"Table two!" Bessy shouted at me, pointing her finger in the direction of my first table for the evening. Reluctantly, I worked though the long hours at my job, still happy to take home a paycheck. As I walked to my last table of the night, I stopped dead in my tracks.

It was them. I heard them talk as I slowly approached their table, recognizing each one of their voices from my barely conscious mind last night. Jessie, Colton, Parker, and Joel. They were all there.

My saviors.
