Jax let out a heavy sigh, rubbing his hands over his face. "I know that, okay? I know Dani isn't going anywhere. But I just-" He cut himself off, shaking his head.
Dani sat up straighter. "You just what?"
Jax clenched his jaw. He looked frustrated, like he was struggling to get the words out.
Leo waved his hand. "Go on, tough guy. Spit it out."
Jax shot him a glare but finally muttered, "I don't want to lose you again." His voice was quiet, rough.
Dani's heart softened.
Leo sat back, tilting his head. "Ohhh. So this is a trauma response." He scribbled something in his notebook. "Jax is experiencing deep-rooted anxiety due to the near-divorce, which is manifesting as hyper-vigilance and possessiveness. Classic."
Jax groaned. "Leo, if you don't put that damn notebook away-"
Leo ignored him. "Dani, what I'm hearing is that you need freedom and trust, and Jax, you need reassurance and stability." He snapped his fingers. "Boom. Therapy."
Dani exhaled, turning to Jax. "I get it, Jax. I do. But you can't control everything. I need to be able to have friends. To have a life outside of just being your wife and Jaxon's mom."
Jax nodded slowly, running a hand through his hair. "I get that too." He sighed. "I'm trying."
Leo clapped his hands. "Great! Progress! Now, let's talk about communication, because y'all suck at it."
Dani laughed softly, and even Jax cracked a smirk.
Leo sipped his iced coffee. "Also, just saying-if you guys divorce, I'm keeping Dani in the split."
Jax rolled his eyes. "Not happening."
Dani smiled, threading her fingers through Jax's. "No, it's not."
Leo dramatically wiped a fake tear. "I love love." Then he sat up, suddenly serious. "Okay, next topic: Jax's temper. Because I swear to God, if I see another headline about you punching someone, I'm throwing both of you into therapy for real."
