"You came out of the blue like that
I never could've seen you coming
I think you're everything I've wanted"
Juliet Anderson has always had a way with words. While she may not have the voice to match, her songwriting is nothing short of a superpower...
﹂real life Juliet had spent the past week in Maine, and somehow, it had felt like home.
She had met Tucker's family—his mom, his sisters, even the random childhood friends who still hung around whenever he was in town. And it had been easy, like she had always belonged there, like she wasn't just visiting but settling into a life she didn't even realize she wanted.
But now, it was just the two of them.
Tucker's apartment was warm, filled with soft lighting, half-finished songs scattered across the coffee table, the scent of whatever candle Juliet had bullied him into buying lingering in the air.
She was curled up on the couch, laptop on her knees, scrolling aimlessly while Tucker sat across from her, strumming something on his guitar—too casual, too innocent.
Which should have been her first clue.
Because Tucker Pillsbury was never innocent.
"You're gonna be mad," he said suddenly, breaking the silence.
Juliet barely looked up. "What did you do?"
Tucker grinned, setting the guitar down. "Okay, before you react—"
Juliet snapped her laptop shut, eyes narrowing. "Tucker."
Tucker held up his hands, like that would somehow protect him. "So, remember that one song?"
Juliet's stomach dropped. "No."
Tucker smirked. "Yes."
Juliet sat up. "Tucker, no."
Tucker nodded. "Tucker, yes."
Juliet's eyes widened. "You didn't—"
"I did."
"Tucker!"
Tucker bit back a grin, stretching his arms behind his head. "It's coming out Friday."
Juliet launched herself off the couch. "ARE YOU INSANE?"
Tucker laughed, dodging her as she lunged at him, but she was relentless, shoving at his chest, grabbing his hoodie like she was about to shake some sense into him.
"I told you not to release that song!" she shrieked.
Tucker grinned, unbothered. "Yeah, but I went ahead and got approval from the label anyway. So it's happening."
Juliet groaned, dropping her forehead against his chest in defeat. "You are the worst human being alive."
Tucker wrapped his arms around her, voice mockingly sweet. "No, I'm your favorite human being alive."
Juliet huffed, trying to fight the warmth spreading through her chest. "I hate you."
Tucker chuckled, fingers slipping under her chin, tilting her face up. "No, you don't."
Juliet narrowed her eyes. "I do."
Tucker leaned in, lips brushing hers. "You don't."
Juliet opened her mouth to argue—
But then he kissed her.
And damn it, she let him.
Because Tucker was right.
She didn't hate him at all.
