I don't know why people enjoy these things? My house was now full of people that I rarely had interaction with and very loud music. Everybody that approached me thought my parents' had done a terrific job with the party and as I looked around I could see all the work that had been done. They had even went out for the evening but my dad advised me that cameras were everywhere and he would be watching. I really didn't care. I had no plans on behaving inappropriately. I really had no plans at all. I just planned to avoid the happy couple. Against my better judgment I invited Luke, to make Tam happy, and to prove I supported her. I didn't realize that meant that she would be up under him the whole time. I didn't like it ... and he knew it. I went out to the balcony to escape all the noise but was quickly followed. I was hoping it was Tam but was disappointed.

"Hi," Laurie said as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Sup," I muttered dryly. I was interested in being hit on and I knew that's where this conversation would lead.

"It is much better out here. Your parents' house is lovely and this is an amazing view." She eased herself into standing beside me.

"Thanks," I said quietly.

"What's wrong Teddy? You aren't enjoying your party? Is there something I could do to make you feel better?" She posed the question with a seductive nature and I just shook my head. She huffed and turned to me with crossed arms.

"What is it about her?" Laurie fussed and I turned to her confused.

"About who?"

"Tamera, what is so special about her? You talk to her but won't talk to any of the rest of us," she whined and I sighed.

"Tam, has never tried to get with me. She's my friend and that's all she wants is my friendship," I explained as I have explained to several others. I pretty much had this speech down pat.

"Well maybe that's all I want too," she countered and I chuckled.

"Bull shit Laurie," I muttered but then I remembered Tam's words in the back of my head. She's always telling me to be nicer to the girls that wanted me because it is truly a compliment to be desired.

"I'm sorry Laurie, I just know that's not true. You've been flirting with me since the third grade and I am flattered really I am just not interested in dating," I explained as nicely as I could.

"But you're interested in fucking?" She stuttered before saying the word fuck. Her mannerisms led me to believe she was a virgin and there was no way I was going to mess around with her. I already knew she wanted more than what she was offering it would've been foolish of me ... and I wasn't cruel I would never take advantage of someone.

"I have had sex yes," I answered and watched her face as she processed what I was saying. She took a step toward me and I backed away. She frowned and her eyes started to water. I didn't want to verbally reject her. I didn't want to see tears on my birthday.

"Laurie, this isn't going to happen between us okay?"

"I still say it's Tam! I think the reason you aren't interested in a relationship is because you have her. You share everything with that dweeb! You keep her on such a high pedestal and fuck everyone else! But where is your precious Tam now upstairs fucking her boyfriend and you're down here sulking!" Laurie stormed of and I felt the hard pounding in my chest drop south into my stomach at a rapid pace. I looked all around the living room, kitchen, and den for Tam and Luke. How could she do this tonight of all nights? I went upstairs and I heard them in one of the guestrooms. I heard Luke's voice saying something and I laugh that most definitely didn't belong to Tammy. I inched the door open and so that bastard with a nameless brunette. He was disrespecting my best friend and my house all at once. I was about to barge in on him with I felt a tap on my shoulder.
