Had a great Idea for a story so tell me what you think!!

~Prologue~

I ran to get the door as the person on the other side decided to keep knocking repeatedly. Jared was coming home tonight and I was trying to make everything perfect for when he arrived. Just the thought of him made my heart flutter. I hadn't seen him in months, so I was literally jumping around the house bubbling with excitement. You see me and Jared had gotten married two years ago and I was so in love with him it was impossible to explain.

After we got married he told me he was going to join the Marines. I was shocked at first and disagreed completely, but he soon talked me into it saying he wasn't a baby, that he had already applied, and he was waiting for an acceptance letter. He deployed later on and was gone months and months at a time. Which is why him coming home was rare. He had called yesterday and told me that they we're riding in on the helicopter to their camp and would be here sometime this afternoon.

I rush the last few steps to the door and rip it open, smiling.

But what I saw was not who I was exactly expecting to see.

My smile faded away as I lay eyes on a uniformed man standing in front of me holding a yellow piece of paper. I suddenly felt scared and nervous as he stared at me.

"W-w-what is it, sir?" I stuttered out.

"I'm sorry mam, but your husband was killed last night." he stated bluntly pity in his eyes.

I stood stock still for a minute contemplating what he had said, before I actually realized what his words meant.

I dropped down to the ground my breath coming in short deep gasps.

No, No ,No, No, this can't happen, he called me and told me he would be here.

Tears streamed down my face.

No,No,No, NO!

The man pulled me into an awkward hug, comforting me as much as he could.

But at this point I just wanted to be left alone and for him to stop hugging me.

So I pushed him away, stood up and looked at him for an answer my cheeks stained with tears.

"They were on their way back, but they were attacked... everyone was killed, there were no survivors, I'm sorry." he said while standing up brushing of his pants. The pity was gone from his eyes now. I nodded tears still running down my face as I shut the door on him. I ran to our bedroom. Throwing myself down on the thick blankets and crying until I was numb. My last thought was,

Please be a dream.
