When the stars of Varda adorned the pitch black sky, Legolas crept out of bed and dressed himself in his green tunic and brown trousers. Equipping his bow and arrows, he then sheathed his dagger and snuck out into the dark halls. It had surprised him that there were no guards pacing through through the Woodland Halls, for there were many in the night.
"Why do I feel that the lack of guards is part of plan?" Legolas thought
He observed his surroundings once more to see if there were any guards hiding within darkness. Fortunately, there were none in sight. The ellon then proceeded on leaving the Palace. After and hour of sneaking through the long halls, Legolas began to have suspections that there was some plan that was being executed at this moment, for there were no guards roaming in the halls.
"I feel that this is Ada's doing..." Legolas thought "why do I have this feeling in my heart that he knows about my plan?"
It just so happened when the ellon had been thinking such a thing, he had arrived at the exit of the palace where the moonlight leaked in when the door opened. Yet, when he was about to escape into the starry night, a quiet yet noble voice called from behind.
"Ion-nin?" The voice said
Legolas froze upon hearing the familiar voice, though he did not look back.
"It is me , Ada" he answered
"What are you doing up this late?" Thranduil inquired as he walked closer to his beloved son.
His questions were immediately answered upon stepping forward into moonlight. When seeing the weapons that adorned his son, the Elven King knew exactly what his son was about to do.
"Legolas. .. are you leaving in search of Tauriel?" He asked quietly
Legolas turned to face his father, though he still did not look at him straight in the eye.
"Yes.." he responded in a slight whisper
Thranduil let out a soft sigh on hearing his son's response. He knew of the feeling his son felt for the fiery haired elleth and respected them. The Elvenking knew how it felt to lose someone you love... from his beloved cousin, Lúthien Tinuviel to his father, King Oropher.
"Ion-nin, it would be best if you did not go out into the night, for that is when the foul beasts of Sauron roam about" Thranduil advised as he place his hand upon his son's shoulder "I know of the love for Tauriel that lingers in your heart... but it is still not a wise choice"
Legolas had a feeling that there was something more that meets the eye with his father's words. Looking straight into Thranduil's eyes, he then spoke.
"Many years have I fought against the foul beasts of this forest with both my bow and daggers... yet, Tauriel, if she be alive, lingers only with ger daggers.. and I shall not stay in comfort while she runs through the wild for survival.."
When hearing the words of Legolas, a small smile came upon the ElvenKing's lips.
"I had known you would say such a thing.. for that is the reason I have assembled a little search party.." The King replied with a hint of pride for his son
In a blink of an eye, the doors behind Legolas opened. Turning to face the moonlight, the Prince was faced with a group of Elven Scouts. A female scout, whose hair was as black a the night sky, stepped forward before the Prince.
"And we shall not stay in comfort while our Prince roams the forest in search of our beloved Captain"
