Chapter 5 - Emergency

Chapter 5

~~~~~Celina's POV~~~~~

I pulled my bag out of my locker.

"Celina! Celina wait up!" I heard Sydney call after me.

"No! Right now really isn't the time! My mom just called me and told me to go home immediately! Do you think I have time?! Because I don't! Who knows what's going on but I can guarantee you it's important!" I shouted back at her.

She slowed her pace down to a walk. I stared at her and as calmly as I could I said:

"Well if you'll excuse me, I have an awaiting mother." I turned around, slung my bag over my shoulder and sprinted out of the school. I was halfway home when I saw Sean sitting on a curb.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked walking towards him.

"The question is, what are YOU doing out of school at 11:28 am?"

"My mom called me and told me there was an emergency at home and that I needed to be there now. So um yeah I better get going."

"Wait I'll come." He said.

"No I'm -"

"Please," he cut me off, "it can have something to do with Alejandro and he's my best friend."

"Okay fine but I'm running." I warned him.

"Fine with me."

And then I sprinted off. I could here his feet hitting the gravel behind me but I didn't bother looking back, knowing that it would slow me down. Sean and I used to always race like this when we were younger, of course he would win, but this time, I'm not going to give up.

I felt his hand on my back and took it as a sign from him that he was close behind me. I ran as fast as I could and soon enough, I couldn't feel his hand on my back anymore. I smiled to myself. Maybe this time, I'll win. I pushed myself and ran as fast as I could. My calves were burning but I just kept going.

"Going to give up?" I heard him say from behind me.

"Oh hell no!" I shouted back.

I ran faster and faster but felt my legs failing.

"Shit!" I screamed out as I fell.

"Told ya." He said sticking his tongue out at me and then helping me up.

I got up and walked away.

"Hey where you going?" He asked me.

"Home!"

"Wait up!"

I looked over my shoulder to see him jogging towards me. He wrapped his left arm around my waist and we started walking towards my house.

We got to my house and as I was about to open the front door, Sean held me back.

"What?" I asked him confused.

"I was just wondering, wanna be my girlfriend?" He asked.

Excitement bubbled up inside of me.

"Yes! Of course!" I squealed and then kissed him. I backed out of the kiss and said:

"We should probably go inside now."

"Yeah yeah, let's go."

We walked in and I heard my mom crying.

"Mom! Mom what's happening?!" I shouted.

"Celina! It-It's terrible!" She said sobbing.

"Mom! Mom explain to me everything that happened!"

"A-Alejandro h-he got high on drugs and then h-he robbed a bank and t-then the police were chasing him and J-Jayden and then he j-jumped off a bridge and cut his leg on a huge rock and broke his l-leg, both his ankles, a couple of toes and f-fingers and an arm."

"Mom that's terrible! Which hospital is he at?!" I said crying.

"C-Creditview."

"Okay I'm going over. Sean you coming?" I said tears streaming down my face.

"Yeah, let's take my car."

I ran out of my house and jumped into Sean's car.

"Let's go." He said turning on the engine.
