Chapter Twenty Three

Mariska's POV

Tamara came over a couple hours ago and checked up on Kelli. Kelli had bruises and cuts covering her body, but she didn't lose too much blood. Kelli is sore all over but Tamara says she's going to be healed in a couple weeks or so.

After Tamara left, Kelli tried eating the soup I made, but it ended up tasting like crap. Kelli insisted that it was fine, but I tried and tried to make it better, but I only failed. Then, Kelli said that is I was that worried about making the soup better, I'd need to take her into the kitchen and have her monitor me. The soup ended up being fine, but Kelli threw it all up later on.

After getting sick, I brought Kelli back to bed, where she begged me to stay. I complied, and she lies on top of my stomach and fell asleep. I didn't want to fall asleep because I didn't want to roll on top of her. But, I eventually fall asleep and it feels so good to rest.

I wake up when I feel movement above me, and I see Kelli whimpering and thrashing around. I try to steady her, but she only panics more and more. "Julia... please stop it... don't hurt me, please!"

"Kelli, wake up! Honey, you're okay, just wake up!"

I don't shake her, but I try my best to wake her up by yelling. I keep shouting until she wakes up. She's now underneath me, but I don't put any weight on her. "Kelli, you're okay, you're okay."

I keep saying that as she hugs me and cries on my shoulder. I hug her back, and she doesn't stop. "It's okay; she's not going to hurt you."

Kelli doesn't respond, but I know she heard me because she looks up at me and I wipe away her tears. "You're okay, it was just a dream."

Kelli stops crying and I kiss her cheek. Kelli leans into the kiss, and I smile against her cheek. "Mariska?"

"What is it, Baby?"

"Thank you for everything," she whispers, and then she kisses my neck.

"You don't have to thank me. You helped me so much, and it's time I do the same. Even if you hadn't helped me, I would've helped you now."

"I love you, Mariska."

"I love you too."

Author's Note: This is the final chapter! But don't worry because there will be a sequel. The sequel will be set after Kelli has healed and should be posted by the end of this week. I have had so much fun writing this and I wanted to thank all of my readers!
