As promised Karen called Lindsey to set up a meeting between the ex lovers. To her surprise, Lindsey seemed calm and almost eager to have a talk with Stevie. Then again it could have just been Karen's protective tone as she told Lindsey that this was to be a talk not an argument and that Stevie had been through a lot since they last saw each other. Something about Karen always intimidated him in a way.

As the hour approached for Lindsey to arrive, Stevie began feeling sick to her stomach. She looked herself over in the mirror for the thousandth time wondering how she would look to Lindsey. Since kicking the habit she had gained a little weight, nothing major, her hair was still long, blonde and beautiful, and her eyes now had life behind them again.

Just then the door bell rang and she could've sworn her heart leaped out of her chest. He's Here. Fuck! Why am I so nervous? Okay, get it together Stevie. She checked her reflection once more then walked to open the front door. There stood Lindsey Buckingham on her doorstep. Tall, handsome as ever, but the nervousness was written all over his face.

They stared at each other for a few seconds, fully taking in the one another's appearance. Lindsey couldn't help but notice how healthy and alert she looked. Jesus. She's still a fucking knockout. Well don't just stand here like an idiot. Say something! All you've done is think about her. GOD, this is going to be hard. I owe her a huge apology. Did I mention how gorgeous she looks?!?

Lindsey stared into her beautiful brown eyes then cleared his throat to speak
"Hi, Stevie...." he said as he nervously ran his fingers through his hair. Stevie smiled softly at him, almost getting lost in those blue grey eyes.

"Hi Lindsey." She replied as she fought the tears welling up in her eyes.

Her watery eyes didn't go unnoticed by Lindsey as he opened his arms silently welcoming her into them. Without hesitation, Stevie wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her head into his chest. Her tears were freely flowing as she felt him stroking her hair and back.

"Jesus, Stevie. I'm so sorry. So fucking sorry for the things I said and for getting rough with you. I had no right to put my hands on you. I'm a complete asshole and I cannot tell you how utterly sorry I am!" By this point Lindsey had started crying too.

"Lindsey....I'm sorry too. I'm so sorry that I pushed you to that point and for the horrible things I said. I'm not that person anymore, I promise!"

Lindsey drew back from her and tilted her chin up to look into her eyes. "My god, Stevie. You..you look so good. Healthy, beautiful and I've missed you so much. I didn't think you'd ever want to speak to me again." He wiped under her eyes with the pads of his thumbs and smiled sweetly.

"What do you mean you're not that person anymore? Where have you been? I asked Mick about you and he just said you were taking a break but I felt like there was more to the story."

Stevie took one of his hands off her face and kissed it softly. "Here, come in and sit down so we can talk." Lindsey stepped fully inside the house as Stevie closed the door behind him. The two of them walked into her living room and sat down on the couch facing each other.

Stevie brought her legs up to sit Indian style as Lindsey continued studying her which of course she noticed.

"Will you stop staring at me?" she said as she nudged him playfully. "Do I have something on my face?"

Lindsey smirked and took her hand in his.
"No, forgive me. I just can't get over how beautiful you are. Not that you haven't always been but you look like yourself. Last time I saw you, I almost didn't recognize you. But now there is light in your eyes again, you just..you look really good, Steph. Honestly."

Her heart fluttered at the sound of the familiar nickname as a smiled played on her lips.

"Thank you. You look good too, Linds. I expected nothing less."

"You think so?" he asked as he subconsciously stuck out his chest a little causing her to laugh.

"Yes, egomaniac. You're still handsome." She reached up and patted his cheek playfully.

"And to answer your earlier question, there is more to Mick's story. I wasn't taking a break..well I was but I was actually in rehab."

Lindsey's eyes widened. "Rehab?! Steph! I'm so proud of you! How long have you been clean?"

"Almost 7 months. After our fight I couldn't get your words out of my head. I was killing myself, Lindsey." She casted her eyes away from him but he quickly pulled her into his lap and placed a gentle kiss to her hair.

"No, I was an asshole. I was concerned about your using but I came about it all wrong. Never did I mean to come off so heartless and cold. I called you terrible names and I hate myself for it."

He rocked a little (😉😆🙊) back and forth with her cradled to his chest.
The two of them felt extremely vulnerable at the moment as they sat separately reliving the fight but being near each other gave them both a sense of comfort.

Stevie had gotten to the part of her memory about the talk she had with Christine after Lindsey left. The older woman had eluded to the fact that Lindsey still loved her and that was something she was curious about. She was certain about her feelings for him and wanted him to know that as well.

"Not only did I get help for myself but..." she stopped talking causing Lindsey to turn his head to look at her.

"But what, Steph? You can talk to me.."

Stevie shifted so she could sit up straight, staring down at him silently mustering up the strength to say the words.

"I did it for you too. Even if we are at each other's throats and on bad terms your opinion of me still matters." She sighed heavily as she felt a weight lift off her shoulders. Actually telling him felt better than just saying it in her head.

Lindsey put his hands on the sides of her neck and pulled her close, pressing their foreheads together. "For me? Stevie, you don't owe me anything. I'm flattered but why when I was such a dick to you?"

"Lindsey, I have to know the truth about something. No matter the answer, I need to know for myself."

He looked at her slightly confused by what she was asking. He said nothing, only giving a small nod of his head wiling her to continue.

"Christine told me, and don't be mad at her but...I mean, are you still in love with me? She told me the two of you spoke and that was the impression I got. If not I'm not going to fall apart of anything. I just want.."

Lindsey cut off her rambling and said something that knocked the wind out of her.

"Absolutely." Lindsey answered with no hesitation apparent in his voice. He couldn't remember a time when he didn't love her.

Stevie's eyes went wide and her heart swelled a little. The familiar feeling of butterflies popped up in her stomach. She hadn't felt that feeling in so long.

"Me too...I mean, I...I feel the same way.", she replied barely above a whisper. "I thought about you so much while I was away. I hate how bad things had to get between us but that doesn't change the fact that I love and care for you. I just wanted to get back to the woman I was...the woman you fell in love with..."

Lindsey smiled brightly at the things she was saying. He had every intention of repairing their relationship. Honestly that was his driving force for coming to have this talk.

"Stevie, I know it'll take some time and I know we both have wounds from things we said but looking at you right now, all I see is the girl I fell in love with. Like you said, I'll never get away."

Stevie smiled and placed a hand to his chest. "Lindsey...can I ask you something?" She asked shyly avoiding his gaze.

"Anything, Steph."

She looked up into his eyes thinking of how after all these years she could still be taken aback by their beauty.

"Kiss me?" Stevie stroked his chest slowly, enjoying the warmth underneath her fingertips.

Lindsey leaned forward and slowly but ever so softly, captured her lips. He took his time familiarizing himself with their taste and touch. Just as he was having an internal battle about whether or not he should deepen the kiss, Stevie parted her lips slightly which he took as an invitation. He slipped his tongue into her mouth and reached up to lace his fingers through her golden mane. The lovers moaned into each other's mouth thinking of how right it felt.

After a few minutes of passionate kissing, Stevie pulled back completely breathless with her eyes filled with lust.

"No one has ever been able to kiss me like you." She leaned forward and pecked his lips once again. "I can imagine what knowing that does to your ego."

Lindsey laughed and ran his finger over her bottom lip. "Goddamn, I've missed you, Steph. You have no idea."

Stevie lovingly wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a smirk. "Oh, I have a pretty good idea. You were on my mind constantly. We don't have to rush things but I would like to try to repair the damage."

"I couldn't agree more." Lindsey replied as he held her close. Of all the scenarios he had formed in his head of how this talk would go, never did he think it would go the way it had. Stevie had gotten help with her cocaine abuse, he was part of the reason for the decision she made, and she wanted to give their love another shot. His heart could want nothing more.

"Steph?"

"Yeah?"

"I know we said we'd take it slow but I hope it's not too forward that I ask to stay? I've missed being around you.. and I'm not trying to be presumptuous or anything, I just..." Lindsey shyly cast his eyes away noticing that he was rambling. He silently hoped he hadn't said too much and that she'd reject him.

Stevie gave him a tender kiss and smiled against his lips.
"Linds, you're rambling!" She giggled and curled up to him once more. "And I thought you'd never ask." she replied. She felt so much better now that she knew he shared the same feelings. She was also grateful he'd asked to staying being that she was not quite ready to let him leave her home just yet.
