Chapter 2: Life Changing

Alden's POV

"Good morning po, Direk!" Bati ko, pagdating sa studio. Pero before I could even say another word, nginitian na ako ni direk ng may kahulugan.

"No, Alden, she's not here yet." Sabi niya agad.

I couldn't help but smile. "Direk naman! Wala pa naman akong sinasabi eh."

She laughed at me, nakapamewang. "You don't need to. You've been asking the same question everyday! Ganun ka ba ka-excited makita siya?"

Namula ata ako pagkasabi niya nun. I gave her an embarrassed smile. "Di naman po. I was just looking forward to having another addition to the show." I smiled again.

Kaso mukhang di bumenta kay direk. Instead, she grinned at me knowingly. "Go get yourself prepared Alden. The show will start in an hour."

Nagsalute ako ng kaunti at lalakad na sana paalis nung nagsalita ulit si direk. "And then maybe afterwards you can watch the audition, no?" She winked at me.

I grinned back at her, dimples and all.

Maine's POV

"Ha? Ano? Paki-ulit nga ulit?" Bulalas ni Natt habang naka de-cuatro sa may bean bag ko. I'm trying to dress up for god-knows-what. Sa totoo lang wala pa ako sa sarili mula nung tinawagan ako ng GMA last week. At oo, ilang araw na rin akong nakatulala sa harap ng TV tuwing 12 ng tanghali kakapanood ng Eat Bulaga. Eh sa di ko talaga gets kung saan ako balak ilagay dun eh!

"Ulit na nga ulit pa ulit?" Sabi naman ng bodiless voice ni Lourynne. Naka-video chat lang kasi. She's in the office pero dahil lunch break niya, nag-skype nalang kami.

"Whatever." Natt eye-rolled. "I just don't get it. You mean to say your hideous dubsmashing made the cut for national television? Edi dapat pala matagal na akong nagpakapetrang kabayo!"

Lourynne snorted. "No need, love. You already look the part."

"Aba, bastos!"

I sighed, turning away from my vanity. Excited ako sa totoo lang kung di lang ako medyo confused eh magtatatalon talon na ako dito. Baka kasi ano pala tong pinapasok ko eh di naman ako informed.

"Basta," I began, sitting beside Natt. "You," sabi ko sa kanya. "Will come with me to the auditions."

"Bongga. Baka madiscover din ako." He smirked winningly.

I gave him a wild face. "YAN!" Turo niya. "Yan ang nagustuhan nila sayo???" Tanong niya habang tumatawa. "I swear social media these days get more and more ridiculous. What I don't get ha, is why you should still audition. Eh may nakaoffer na ngang contract."

Lourynne shrugged visually. "Quality control dear. Syempre kailangan din nilang siguraduhin that they're signing up for the legit thing. Baka mamaya edited lang pala or something na di magwowork sa live shooting diba?"

"Know it all," pakli ni Natt sa tabi ko. "But she has a point. So ano exactly yung details?"

I fished out my phone and scrolled for Direk's text message containing all the important information about today's auditions. "So we should be at GMA studios by 2:30. Sakto katatapos lang ng Eat Bulaga and that I should wear minimal make-up. Bring a couple of IDs...and look for Direk. That's it."

"Wala man lang sinabi kung ano gagawin mo?" Tanong ni Lourynne.

"Nako girl, baka ipag-go go dancing ka dun!" Natt joked na hinampas ko naman. "But seriously."

"Baliw!" I told him. "Dubsmashing nga eh! Go-go dancing ka diyan. What is that thing, even? Anyway kinakabahan ako."

"It's been a week since they called you and you posted like, more than 5 dubsmash vids since then. I think you got the practice covered, Maine." Lourynne told me.
